Really can't emphasize enough that Character.AI is a predatory company profiting off of vulnerable children and if you're a teacher using the platform - or other LLMs - to "talk" with fictional or historical figures just stop.

I’ve heard some stories recently of people complying with fascists’ demands after they were threatened. As a violence researcher (and someone who has received a good deal of threats), everyone should know that complying will not save you. It only teaches the threatener that threats work.

I forgot to keep posting about sourdough. I have been successful! Here’s my favorite loaves so far. I’m still working on scoring - the slice is from the one with a less pronounced “ear” because I’m giving the prettier loaf to a neighbor.

Reteaching upper-level content is such a dream--first round of doing it is so challenging to just figure out how to distill complex information, but the pay off is in the second and third round when your previous work allows for real refinement. (It's intersectionality week next week.)
