Concerning: USPS had previously failed to meet its performance targets for delivery times, and, among its ongoing cuts and reorganization, it lowered those targets, and now persistently fails to even meet the *lowered* targets. Timely mail delivery is essential to elections and voter registration.

Well-said, @johnmarion.bsky.social. It's important to note that voter registration is a state function, and Rhode Island law is clear: anyone can provide forms to help citizens register to vote. It's unfortunate that the federal government is preventing the League of Women Voters from volunteering.

Over the next year, Rhode Island 250 will plant a Liberty Tree in each city and town across Rhode Island. Yesterday, the first two Red Maples were planted in Little Compton and Charlestown. These ceremonies commemorate our state’s role in our nation's independence.

Seen on social media: Demands by national political commentators that election officials must have results by 9 p.m. and certify winners by midnight, on Election Day, but *also* hand-count all ballots, using no electronic vote tabulators.
