Today’s horror movie is Be My Cat: A Film for Anne. It’s currently streaming on Tubi, and boy is it weird. I’m a found footage junkie, but this one didn’t really do it for me. It’s about a guy that’s making a movie for Anne Hatheway, his celebrity obsession. Did I say it’s weird already?

26 days until Halloween! Today’s horror movie is Dagon (2001). This one is B movie gold. I mean, it’s a Stuart Gordon Lovecraft adaptation, so that’s always a plus. He definitely seemed like he was trying to cast a young Jeffrey Combs-type in the lead, and it very much works. Extremely underrated.

28 days until Halloween! Today’s horror movie is 2010’s The Wolfman. Gotta love those universal monsters. It’s not the greatest movie ever made, but it’s very atmospheric and Benicio Del Toro always delivers. Lots of CGI for the transformation scenes, but the werewolf itself looks super cool.

29 days until Halloween! Whew! Sorry folks! The Evil Izzy world has been super busy. That being said, today’s horror movie is Saw. I remember watching this when it came out and was blown away. It’s still very impressive on like the 10th watch, and it built one hell of a franchise.

42 days until Halloween! “Did you ever see that scene in Scanners where that dude’s head blew up?” Yes, guy from Wayne’s World, because today’s horror movie is indeed Scanners! This Cronenberg cult classic may have a lot of talking (some say too much,) but that head explosion is the best. Ever.

43 days until Halloween! Today’s horror movie is Cobweb. Very atmospheric with some solid scares, but the ending, and really the whole final act, left me unsatisfied. It seemed rushed, which is odd considering the $35 million budget. Lizzy Caplan’s performance was also…odd.

49 days until Halloween! Today’s horror movie is We’re All Going to the World’s Fair. This has got to be the slowest burn I’ve ever watched. It seems like nothing happens for most of the movie, but I couldn’t seem to look away. It’s certainly not for everyone, but the acting is very good.

50 days until Halloween! Today’s horror movie is Hatchet. It’s cheesy, it’s plot-thin, and it’s tasteless. You should definitely watch it! Some of the craziest kills you’ll ever see. Plus it’s just downright funny. Adam Green is always good for a fun flick, and I’m just now mentioning Kane Hodder?

51 days until Halloween! Today’s horror movie is Scream 4. I always forget how much I love this one, and I shouldn’t do that. Kirby is a rock solid addition, and Deputy Judy moves nicely into the Barney Fife role. This one is the most reminiscent of the first imo, and the ending keeps you on edge

56 days until Halloween! And surprise surprise…today’s horror movie is Scream 3 (sorry, my kid took over the list over the last few days.) This is my least favorite scream movie. Gale’s bangs, Maureen Prescott soap opera, odd killer backstory…it just doesn’t work for me. The Randy video is fun tho

57 days until Halloween! The kid wanted to watch more Scream movies, so today’s horror movie is Scream 2. Aka Scream: The College Years. This movie is worth it purely for the opening sequence with Jada Pinkett, but the rest of the movie is fun too. It’s a worthy sequel to keep the franchise going.

58 days until Halloween! Today’s horror (adjacent) movie is Shock Treatment. Did you know there’s a sort of sequel to Rocky Horror about what would happen to Brad and Janet if they never stopped at Frank-n-Furters? If not, there’s good reason for that. This flick is weird but forgettable.

59 days until Halloween! Spooky season is here, so today’s horror movie is an all-timer. If you mention 90s horror, the first movie to always come up is Scream. That’s because it’s damn near perfect. Even knowing exactly what’s going to happen, it’s still a phenomenal watch. It’s my comfort movie

65 days until Halloween! Today’s horror movie is Talk to Me. This one is making a killing in the box office, and rightfully so. It’s a fun and unique take on the possession genre with solid acting and more then solid scares. I have a strong feeling that this movie is the start of a franchise.

66 days until Halloween! Today’s horror movie is Red State. Kevin Smith made this is 2011, and people didn’t know how to handle his jump into horror. It’s just as relevant now as it was then. The late Michael Parks absolutely nails the country cult leader persona. Very well cast film

67 days until Halloween! Today’s horror movie is Jennifer’s Body. This has been on my watchlist for years and saw it’s on Max so finally pulled the trigger. I’m glad I did because I loved it. This is how you do a horror comedy. Not the biggest Megan Fox fan, but she owns it here.

68 days until Halloween! Today’s horror movie is Prom Night. I’ve seen Prom Night 2: Hello Mary Lou (and love it) but somehow I keep missing this one. And it’s super fun! We have horror royalty with Jamie Lee and Leslie Nielsen in a straight role. My only complaint is that the ending seems rushed

69 (huh huh) days until Halloween! Today’s horror movie is Antrum: The Deadliest Film Ever Made. Legend has it, anyone who watches this movie dies…oops. Still here though. For now. This movie is part Ritual, part Blair Witch, and part the Ring. It’s not the worst film, but it’s not great

70 days until Halloween! Today’s horror movie is Martyrs. This film always shows up on lists of the most disturbing movies ever made, so I’ve avoided it, but finally gave it a chance. It’s a tough watch, but it’s a very good story. Not Serbian film disturbing, but still tough. Proceed with caution

71 days until Halloween! Today’s horror movie is Malum. I really enjoyed Last Shift, and this is a remake/reimagining of that film. A lot of the reviews I’ve heard have been fairly poor, so I was worried, but I must say, this movie expands on the plot of Last Shift in an interesting way. I enjoyed

72 days until Halloween! Today’s horror movie is The Pope’s Exorcist. I didn’t have much in the way of expectations for this one because exorcist movies are all kind of the same. I must say, this one has some twists and turns that I found pleasantly surprising. Check it out. It’s on Netflix

85 days until Halloween! I’ll watch a horror movie ALMOST everyday until we get there. Today’s movie is The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue, aka Let Sleeping Corpses Lie. SURPRISINGLY GOOD ZOMBIE FLICK! They’re very obviously ripping off Romero, but who doesn’t! Certainly worth checking out.

92 days until Halloween. I’m going to change it up for today. In honor of the great Paul Reubens, today’s movie is Pee Wee’s Big Adventure. Tim Burton’s first full length feature behind the camera is a blast, and Danny Elfman’s score is my personal all time favorite. RIP Pee Wee. We miss you 😢

This one was surprisingly fun, and unfortunately it’s up against Barbenheimer and should’ve opened closer to Halloween. Go see
