I really liked X-Men in the late 80s and very early 90s, but fell off in early 1992, right after moving to a new town I didn't like. At the time I was disappointed that Claremont was gone, but I think also I associated the line with the move

I've always been fascinated by the apparent convergent evolution of the Hounds in X-Men lore (ie Claremont likes to recycle his favorite ideas) and how, at least tangentially, the Shadow King seems to be involved with every iteration

When I was a tween-teenager I absolutely loved Claremont's X-Men, starting with Mutant Massacre. Now 90s Nicieza is my preferred classic X-Men, but I think this flashback minis by Claremont are a lot of fun

I love this cover, and the fact that Iron Man is front and center, but it's weird to me that Wolverine is so close to center while Steve Rogers is so far to one side

As much as many criticisms of Big Two comics in the 90s is justified to a certain extent, I don't think 90s comics being "too dark" is one of them. The "darkness" of 90s comics is mostly performative, to the point of self parody. 2000s comics are dark on a fundamentally philosophical level

Philosophical question: In terms of consciousness backups to a cloned body (Krakoa resurrection protocols, Altered Carbon stacks/sleeves, etc), do you consider that functional immortality, or a series of iterations?

I kind of hate that Iron Man armor. It's like they were trying to make him a villain (and this was still a few years before Civil War)
