It's funny how a lot of web sites and applications (in today's case, Teams) have forgotten that GIF is also an image format, and present any GIF image as a single frame video with a play button. It means I usually have to convert old GIF images to PNG before sharing on modern platforms.

Why do UPS systems have such lousy power factor in their capacity? For example, this unit I'm setting up is rated for 1500VA, but only 900 watts. Most modern PC equipment has better than 0.9 power factor, so that's a lot of unavailable capacity there. And this seems standard across the industry.

Quake III Arena had a system memory requirement of 64MB. The Ryzen 9800X3D CPU has an L3 cache of 96MB. Does this mean that Q3A runs almost entirely in cache on this modern CPU? That's wild if so. :)

The Virtual Furry Museum is honestly one of the coolest things I've ever seen in VR. The level of attention to detail in every corner is amazing. Custom shaders, high quality textures, lots of thought put into lighting and presentation. I'd go as far as to call it a masterpiece in world building.

FS 2024 is something else in VR. You're actually sitting in the cockpit. You can look around. The instrument panels are so realistic. You can grab the flight controls and manipulate them like they're real. Flight sims were frustrating until I tried this shit. Now to buzz my workplace in an F-18.

A friend recommended I try the VR game "Moss" and it's just.... I can't even describe it because it's something I never expected. Super innovative concept. It's on sale on Steam. Just get it if you have a VR headset. And cute mousie with a sword! <3

Was just reminded of Circuit City's DIVX system, introduced in the late 90s. Basically they were like DVDs but they required permission from a server to be played. It used an analog phone line to talk to the server. Discs would play for 48 hours or so then become useless unless you paid again.

After dealing with a scheduled power outage at work, I must say I'm happy to see electricians here de-energizing panels before working on them. After seeing arc flash videos I don't want anyone to risk their lives for our uptime. A couple decades ago they'd just work hot.

It's wild how MFF is so big it noticeably depresses attendance of typical online furry spaces. VRchat bad movie night had about half the usual number, so did another event last night.

Any Windows experts? Why does SteamVR think my Windows 11 computer is locked when I'm remote desktopped in? Is a remote desktop connection treated differently for purposes of "this PC is locked" then a console session?
