I was intimidated by Larry when I joined the Library in 1998 as Moving Image Curator, but he quickly put me at ease (I think it was his made-for-radio voice; it was lovely). He was a great film programming resource too, one of those people who does credit to all federal employees.

I saw The Poseidon Adventure multiple times in the theater as a 12 year old and all these years later believe it's one of Gene Hackman's greatest performances.
