There have been lots of firsts for new-to-the-maegashira Fujinokawa--and they keep on coming. Today, at the Kariya Jungyo, the 20-year-old son of Kabutoyama Oyakata was chosen by Hoshoryu for butsukari-geiko from which he learned first hand, and for the first time, the power of the yokozuna.

Wakaikari, upon his promotion, has been renamed "Fujinokawa" - "River of Wisterias". Yes, this "Fuji" (藤) means "wisteria", not Mount Fuji. Shikona containing "river" used to be very common, but nowadays they have become a rarity.

My New Year card and also my first finished piece of the year. i don't think french baroque "inegalité" is as ... "equal" as people play it (says the person that doesn't know much french baroque music anyway). my noob self thinks, that there is a lot of "microrhythm" aspect to baroque music performance that the general performer might not get. maybe?

people's opinions of bach are so bad and i dislike them. also, even though i like his work when it was more contrapuntal (and vocal-like), to say "all his music is contrapuntal (etc etc)" is such a lie. i have heard many bach keyboard works that are very instrumental and keyboardistic
