Governments have a moral and legal obligation to respond to the genocide in Gaza. They can, and must, work to: 🔴 Secure a ceasefire 🔴 Lift the siege 🔴 Ensure the delivery of large-scale aid Doctors can’t stop genocide, world leaders can.

Cholera is spreading rapidly in Cibitoke, Burundi, with nearly 200 patients admitted to Rugombo health centre in the first two weeks of September.     Our colleagues are providing medicines and more beds for patients, and improving hygiene and sanitation measures.

Iyad from Palestine and Hossam from Iraq are finding shared healing at our reconstructive surgery hospital in Amman, Jordan. In physiotherapy sessions for their trauma injuries, they’re supporting one another. And outside of appointments, they play football and video games.

In East Ghouta, Syria, we are trying to reach people little to no access to healthcare. While supporting to make the health system in the area more functional, we’re running mobile clinics where people can receive general care, reproductive care, and mental health support.

Hossam was just nine when a devastating explosion left him with severe burns across his body.  After 17 surgeries in Iraq, he arrived at our reconstructive surgery hospital in Jordan, where he has since undergone 10 more surgeries and countless treatments.

Our teams in Cibitoke, northwestern Burundi, are responding to a rapidly spreading cholera outbreak along with local health authorities. Nearly 200 patients were admitted for treatment in the first two weeks of September. The response must be scaled up with other organisations.

📸 In East Ghouta, Syria, people are visiting a mobile clinic, where we're providing mental health services, non-communicable disease management, and reproductive care. Located 10km from Damascus, we first began mobile clinics here in January 2025. We’ve provided 19,000+ consultations since then.

On 15 September, Israeli forces fired upon our clearly marked water truck in Gaza City. This attack cannot be dismissed as an error. It was a deliberate attempt to sabotage water distribution to civilians:

We are appalled and saddened as we mourn our colleague Hussein Alnajjar, who died yesterday in Gaza, Palestine, from shrapnel injuries following an Israeli strike near his tent five days earlier. He is our 13th colleague to be killed.

“If Member States continue to treat these legal obligations as optional, they are not only complicit but are setting a dangerous precedent for the future.” Aid agencies call on world leaders to intervene after the UN concluded that genocide is being committed.

Good news from Bulape, Democratic Republic of Congo: The first patients who have recovered from Ebola have been discharged from the treatment centre and are returning home. Thanks to care provided through collaboration between local and international partners, mortality was reduced!

Katrin Kisswani describes the enormous scale of the malnutrition crisis devastating children and families in northern Nigeria.

On 10 September, 8 children aged 5 to 16 were medically evacuated from Gaza to our reconstructive surgery hospital in Jordan, in coordination with the Jordanian Ministry of Health. One child was hurt while still recovering from fractures sustained in an earlier strike.

After the earthquake and aftershocks that struck Afghanistan’s eastern provinces of Kunar and Nangahar between 31 August and 4 September, around half a million people are in need of urgent health assistance, according to the UN.

Sudan: following a day of attacks by SAF and RSF across Darfur, 99 wounded people, including children, arrived at MSF-supported facilities. The humanitarian crisis is spiralling, and the world cannot look away.

“Our teams are doing all they can – but we need others to act now. Every delay costs lives.” Katrin Kisswani recently saw the impacts the devastating malnutrition crisis is having on children in northern Nigeria, urging immediate action.

Gaza City is facing a humanitarian catastrophe as Israel’s assault escalates. Forcing 1 million people—including critically ill patients and newborns—into overcrowded, under-resourced areas would be a death sentence.

👋 Meet Akuol Elizabeth! She leads our team of community health workers in Renk, South Sudan. Each day, her team is at the forefront of the emergency response in Renk, promoting hygiene measures, and ensuring children and lactating women at risk of malnutrition get the support they need.

In 2024, only 16% of children in the Central African Republic had completed their full vaccination schedule, while 34% had never received any vaccine. In Batangafo health zone, we work with the Ministry of Health to close this gap, providing children with routine vaccinations.
