Last night, I went to a double feature of Maya Deren's short silent film "At Land" (1944) on 16mm and Christopher Nolan's "Inception" (2010) on 35mm. It was a lot of fun to experience two movies from different generations, both themed around dreams.

Look what arrived in the post! The Criterion Collection release of Seven Samurai on 4K Blu-Ray. Last year, I saw the 4K restoration in the cinema and I'm super keen to watch it again.

I recently rewatched one of my favourite movies of 2024, Better Man! As a huge fan of musicals, I really enjoyed this film. It features some of the best musical numbers I've ever seen, and the new arrangements of Robbie Williams' songs are phenomenal!

In late 2006, Sony launched Gran Turismo HD on the PlayStation Store. This free, bite-sized game served as an early preview of Gran Turismo for PlayStation 3 owners. It features one track, the newly introduced Eiger Nordwand, and ten cars, including the series debut of Ferrari.

Happy 38th anniversary to one of my favourite video game franchises of all time, Metal Gear! The first game was released on the MSX2 in Japan on the 13th of July 1987.

Last night, I watched the 1925 silent film "The Phantom of the Opera" on the big screen, celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. The version shown was a restored edition by Photoplay Productions, accompanied by a superb orchestral score composed by Carl Davis in 1996.

I recently purchased the James Bond: Sean Connery 6-Film Collection on 4K Blu-ray! This set includes all the 007 films produced by EON that star Sean Connery, presented in 4K with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, as well as the original mono audio. It’s time for a Bond marathon!

I recently watched Pink Floyd at Pompeii on Blu-ray and loved it! The new Dolby Atmos mix is a sonic delight and makes me glad I upgraded my surround sound system last year.

It was a real treat watching Kiki's Delivery Service on the big screen! The chalk art used to promote the screening was a nice touch.

Last night, I attended a screening of The Man Who Saves the World, also known as Turkish Star Wars. It was the most fun I've had at the cinema! The film represents B-grade cinema at its finest, and I highly recommend it if you love martial arts films.

Happy 15th Anniversary to Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker! First released in Japan on the 29th of April 2010, Peace Walker is my favourite game on the PSP and remains one of the most impressive titles ever created for a handheld game console.

Although my birthday is the same day as Star Wars Day, my experience with the franchise has primarily been through the films. However, after seeing the "Revenge of the Sith" re-release on the big screen, I watched the "Obi-Wan Kenobi" series and loved it!

Today marks the 25th anniversary of Metal Gear: Ghost Babel, which was first released in Japan on the 27th of April 2000. Ghost Babel is an alternate sequel to the original Metal Gear from 1987 and is widely regarded as one of the best games for the Game Boy Color.

I had a blast watching Revenge of the Sith on the big screen for the first time since its original release in 2005. The screening began with an introduction by Hayden Christensen, which was a nice touch.

I went to the Australian premiere of GIFT (2023)! Directed by Ryusuke Hamaguchi, GIFT is a condensed, silent version of Evil Does Not Exist, featuring a live score performed by Eiko Ishibashi. It was a fantastic experience to watch a new silent film with a live soundtrack.

Yesterday, I watched The Blues Brothers at the cinema, and it's still my favourite movie ever. The movie is a perfect blend of multiple genres (action, comedy, and musical) and has some of the best car chases you will ever see in a film. I can't recommend it enough.

I watched the very first Godzilla film on the big screen!

Last night was the first day of the Asia Pacific Triennial Cinema program at the GOMA where they're screening several films directed by Tsai Ming-liang. The three films shown last night was "No Form", "Walker", and "Rebels of the Neon God".

Continuing my Horror kick with the second Cloverfield film, 10 Cloverfield Lane. Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Goodman are both fantastic in this film, easily among the best performances of their careers.

I got to enjoy a private screening of Porco Rosso since I was the only person in the cinema. While I enjoy having the cinema all to myself, it is sad to see Porco Rosso not enjoying the same reverence as Miyazaki's other films. Because I think it's brilliant!

If there's a screening of The Blues Brothers, you can guarantee that Robert will be there. This is my favourite movie of all time!

I finally tracked down a copy of Cloverfield on 4K Blu-Ray. This is easily my favourite film in the found footage genre. #horror #4kbluray

Another 4K Blu-Ray to add to the shelf. The Criterion Collection release of "Perfect Days". Earlier this month, I caught a free screening at the GOMA and absolutely loved it. A wonderful piece of slow cinema and I can't wait to watch it again.

This arrived in the post from the USA, the steelbook edition of "Paprika" on 4K Blu-Ray. The 4K Blu-Ray features Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. Both discs are region free and you get one of the most beautiful steelbooks ever made. It's a shame this didn't get a local release. #paprika #anime #4k
