New paper on how to calculate a multistate death distribution! What's that, you ask? Usually, we plot a death distribution by age at death. But age at death is the sum of our time spent in different states. If we split time between being healthy or not, then the distribution is multistate (1/3)

Primary prevention of heart failure ought to be a central focus of #preventivemedicine and chronic disease prevention. Everything we do to prevent heart failure in primary care and prevention clinics will have positive knock-on effects on other CVD and prevent multimorbidity accumulation.

Small, retrospective study evaluating CPAP for secondary prevention of CVD after AMI. As expected, long-term adherence to CPAP (>4 hours per night) is associated with 50% decreased risk of recurrent MACCE. I suspect impact on #htn control may drive effect. Need for larger and prospective studies.

Incredible evidence to support more focus on control of #htn. Hyperglycemia is not the only contributor to CVD risk in T2DM. We can’t be content with SBPs in the 130s. Time to tackle therapeutic inertia in HTN treatment!

Another incredible win for GLP-1RA/GIP Tirzepatide in SUMMIT! 38% reduction in CVD death/worsening HF and improved patient-reported outcomes. Time for policy change to get these therapies to patients with #obesity #hfpef #aha2024 #cardiosky
