Today is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day – a time to raise awareness for the ongoing impacts of residential school and remember the children who never came home.

Important distinction, for whoever needs to hear it today: A rejection of your story is not a rejection of you as a writer!

Next year's WorldCon is in Los Angeles, and the theme appears to be Westward Expansion or possibly Manifest Destiny. The guests are referred to as Pioneers and the venue as The Frontier. This year the awards were swept by Indigenous writers. The choice is stunning in its ugliness.

The anti-Indigenous shit people have said to me in genre spaces and the way different genre institutions have been hostile/passive-aggressive when I’ve tried to bring Native voices into the room has given me crises of conscience about even continuing in this field at times

I finished reading The Man Made of Smoke by Alex North / @alexnorth.co.uk, one of my favourite authors. I finished it in less than half a day; I just couldn't put it down. I really enjoyed it! The tense atmosphere, the suspense, and the relationship between father and son. I highly recommend it!
