I posted this today on a site sharing “No Kings rally” pictures and someone told me I was stupid because I married my sister. I had to laugh. We are best friends and always go to rallies together as our husbands stay home. But even if we were married, so what? They love to hate.

When I first started working, I had an overbearing boss. She would humiliate me on occasion, leaving me overwhelmed. Then a co-worker told me, “She treats you like that because you let her.”

How many are aware of gaslighting? It’s often the cause of complex trauma in religion. Subtle, it denies your reality, destroys your self-confidence, suffocates you so you don’t use your voice, and diminishes your ability to fight back. Be aware. It’s the main cause of trauma in religion.
