The fight to limit global warming is the defining challenge of our time. Success will be measured not only in degrees, but in homes spared and lives saved. In Paris, I spoke about how cities have proven themselves to be the climate doers while national governments have dithered.

As in the 19th century, does your child's school have: - high ceilings to increase room volume? - high windows for continuous ventilation? - large windows for better ventilation? - Opposite openings for air circulation? - All windows open outwards to improve ventilation?

I fully agree with Prof. Chris Whitty and Dr. Hans Kluge of the WHO. The great lesson of the pandemic has been the importance of Indoor Air Quality. Improved IAQ would also reduce RSV, flu etc, and prepare us for the next pandemic. Ireland had the 4th highest rate of asthma in the world in 2019.

If you are using a CO2 monitor to examine your ventilation remember: A difference between 750 and 850 ppm is not a big deal. Activity level, # people, calibration all impact values. You are looking for a difference between 750 and 3000 ppm. Find the bad rooms!
