So you want to be a writer. What is the most important thing. It sounds obvious, but Write. Wrote every day, for at least an hour. Writing is a muscle. The more you work out, the stronger you become.

I spent the weekend submerged in my book, writing new chapters to give to my editor. Now its Monday, and I can't stop thinking about what I wrote and what awaits in book 2.

So anyway I just accidentally rewrote my entire manuscript with seven words. luckily it did not autosave before I could control Z. Here's you very occasional reminder to back up the thing you've been working on for the past month.

When you are reading a book and come across a long exposition dump, do you want to stop reading? Personally, exposition isn't for me. It slows the story and takes the fun out of discovering the world. I prefer to discover the authors creation through organically sprinkled information or subtext.
