Here’s todays reason why young people are great - ‘I wrote this poem in a place called Wigan’ .’ ‘Oh is that a wig shop?’ ‘No.’ ‘Oh that’s a kind of place that only serves vegetables.’ ‘No that’s vegan.’ ‘This is Wigan and it’s a place up north.’

It‘s difficult and painful to have eyes on everything, to witness everything, to try to interrupt all the destruction. But if we look away for even a few minutes, even to look at a different emergency, it creates opportunity for more and greater harm. 😞😢

Spotify discovery has slowly disintegrated into something so worthless I can barely find a single song I think is good. I mean literally I used to look forward to that playlist.

Guys. I didn’t win the national poetry prize. I want to thank my parents, God and all the people who have stuck with me throughout. What a great feeling.

It must be such a complex bunch of emotions to own a Tesla. U were trying to save the world but you ended up supporting a dystopian broken world. It’s wild.

Still thinking about the young people’s show I saw someone. A host did the greatest intro in the world, it went like this: ‘How many people love their grandparents? Well you’ll love this introducing … to the stage’ *poet comes out & says* This one is about my grandfather who died last year.

and lucky boy is such a great listen. Brilliant storytelling capturing the nuance of a horrific case. It really struck a chord with me, how many men’s abuse was ignored.

I’ve always thought of myself as a left leaning person. Literally I’ve been an activist on the left for my life. But recently I gotta say that the left is a lot harder to sit and hang out in. It doesn’t feel as welcoming a space, a space lacking unconditional love and connection. Somethings lost

I am so tired of trying to organise my gigs. It’s wild how tight the diary has to be, it’s exhausting. I just don’t know if it’s neurological or what but something makes me continue to slip up… it’s maddening

It’s wild… every yr in Birmingham an event brings together all the young poetry collectives from across unis. I often meet and speak to the future poets there. I hear about challenges. There, I can see poets coming together and plotting a life of contacts in the arts. They lost their funding ?!?!

One of the wildest things about travelling in Asia is the fact u can get a five star hotel with breakfast for 100 quid and it is in a class of its own. Then you’re here looking to get a shepherds hut in a field and it costs 217 pound for a night. Like what the hell happened?!?

Sometimes I think it is better to never publish your first book. Instead just enjoy the grants and access to money for unpublished writers. The courses, the magazines, the support network.
