This week, we kicked off the 2025 Downtown Thanksgiving Food Challenge with our partners across the city, county, and state. We’re coming together to fight food insecurity and ensure local families have warm, nourishing meals this Thanksgiving.

My office joined Greater Opportunities for Broome and Chenango at the celebration of the grand opening of 34 Munsell Street in Binghamton, a five-unit affordable housing development made possible with $2.5 million in ARPA funds and SRDI support.

I am proud to announce $50,000 in operational funding for the Southern Tier Veterans Support Group. This investment reflects our ongoing commitment to ensure that our veterans and their families receive the support, care, and opportunities they have earned through their service.

I spent Veterans Day afternoon sharing a meal, and conversation with veterans, and their families. Thank you to the Tompkins County Department of Veterans Services, GIAC, and the Ithaca Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta for creating space to listen and connect with veterans.

On Veterans Day, we honor the brave men and women who have served our nation with courage, dedication, and sacrifice. Their commitment to protecting our freedoms represents the best of who we are. I extend my deep gratitude to all veterans and their families for their service.

I secured $200,000 through the New York State Senate’s Community Resiliency, Economic Sustainability, and Technology (CREST) Program to aid in new cameras and installation for Broome-Tioga BOCES. This investment is a direct commitment in protecting our students and staff members.

My office joined Tompkins County Whole Health and community partners to celebrate the ribbon-cutting of the new Mental Health Satellite Clinic in Lansing. I commend Tompkins County’s leadership for their commitment to providing equitable care for all residents.

Today, I joined Broome County Executive Jason Garnar, Assemblymember Donna Lupardo, the Food Bank of the Southern Tier, and CHOW to stand united in support of our neighbors who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

I was proud to cosponsor legislation that is now signed into law to ensure these victims are included in the statewide computerized registry was established to expedite communication between Family and Criminal Courts and law enforcement agencies.

My office participated in the Southern Tier Community Center’s Trunk or Treat. We appreciated the opportunity to engage with families and contribute to a safe and enjoyable community gathering.

Vestal Park for Rehabilitation and Nursing hosted a Fall Festival for their residents. I was proud to join them in the celebration, enjoying live music, fall crafts, and refreshments. Thank you to Vestal Park for hosting this event.

College is possible for everyone. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form and New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) application are both open. The easiest way for students to apply for TAP is through the FAFSA.

The completion of a new affordable home at 170 Moeller Street in Binghamton marks another important step toward expanding housing opportunities in the Southern Tier.
