My staff delivered thousands of handmade Valentine’s Day cards to seniors across our district as part of my 3rd Annual Valentine’s Cards for Seniors Drive. These cards, created by students and community members, are a small but meaningful way to share connection, care, and kindness with our seniors.

Yesterday marked an important milestone for Binghamton with the approval of the final design for the Route 363 Gateway Project. I’m grateful to Commissioner Dominguez, NYSDOT, and Governor Hochul for their partnership and commitment to a more inclusive Binghamton.

I met with Broome-Tioga BOCES to discuss their ongoing work supporting students, educators, and school districts across our region. I appreciate the opportunity to hear from local education leaders and value their continued partnership in strengthening public education.

Caucus Weekend is here! As a proud member of the Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic, and Asian Caucus, I am excited to welcome folks to Albany for the 55th Annual Caucus Weekend Legislative Conference! I am hosting and participating in informative and inspiring panels with colleagues.

My office met with leaders, students, and alumni from New York’s STEP and CSTEP programs to discuss the importance of continued support for these impactful initiatives. I remain committed to supporting programs that strengthen educational opportunity and our future workforce.

I met with the American Lung Association to discuss their work supporting lung health and asthma education across New York State. I appreciate the opportunity to learn more and look forward to continued collaboration to support the health and well-being of New Yorkers.

My office attended the 211 Day celebration and open house to recognize and thank the incredible team for all they do to support individuals and families across our region. Their work connecting people with critical services makes a real difference in our community every day.

I partnered with the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County, Mutual Aid Tompkins, and Southern Tier Aids Program to host Community Office Hours at the Tompkins County Public Library. Thank you to everyone who came.

I met with advocates from the New York Birth Control Access Project in Albany. I’m grateful to the advocates from across the state, especially those from Senate District 52, who continue to raise their voices for reproductive health access and equity.

I met with the Supportive Housing Network of New York and local providers from the YWCA of Binghamton and Volunteers of America in Albany. I’m grateful to our community partners for sharing how these investments directly impact constituents across our region.

My staff attended Binghamton University’s MLK Series Fireside Chat. Thank you to Binghamton University’s Division of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and all the partners who made this meaningful conversation possible.

My office had the opportunity to attend the CARES Black History Month Poetry Slam in Binghamton. The evening was a powerful celebration of Black history, creative expression, and community.

It was a pleasure to meet with students from McGraw FFA in Albany. These young leaders asked thoughtful questions and shared powerful perspectives on the future of agriculture, food security, and advocacy in New York State.

Today, my staff wore red in recognition of Wear Red Day to raise awareness about heart disease and the importance of heart health. Heart disease continues to impact families and communities across our state, and prevention, education, and access to care remain critical.

Today, I was proud to pick up hundreds of handmade valentines created by students and community members across our district as part of our Valentines for Seniors initiative.

The Greater Ithaca Activities Center’s 2026 Black History Month Talent Showcase is a powerful celebration of Black history, culture, and community. My office joined them for the evening and enjoyed witnessing the power of collective storytelling.

For too long, families have faced rate hikes and confusing bills without meaningful protections. This package of legislation enacts common-sense reforms that prioritize people over profits.

I want to let you know about a Community Connection event hosted by the NYSEG team, designed to connect directly with customers and provide helpful, hands-on support. This open-house style event will take place today, Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 4:00 pm-7:00 pm.

As we celebrate Black History Month this February, we also mark a profound milestone: 100 years since its founding as a national effort to honor the achievements, resilience, and contributions of Black Americans. This centennial is both a moment of reflection and a call to action.

I met with the team at Alliance for Quality Education (AQE), an organization that has spent 25 years fighting to ensure every child in New York has access to a sound, basic education. I’m grateful for their partnership and dedication to advancing education justice across our state.

Across our SUNY and CUNY campuses, too many students are experiencing food insecurity. Today, my bill S8792 passed in the Senate. The bill exempts food provided to students through approved donation programs, such as donated meal points or designated food funds, from sales tax.

As our region remains under a cold weather advisory, please take steps to stay warm and safe. Warming centers are open across our district for anyone who needs a safe place to get out of the cold. Please check in on neighbors, loved ones, and those most vulnerable during extreme weather.

I met with the Food Bank of the Southern Tier to hear updates on their critical work supporting families and fighting hunger across our region. I’m committed to advocating for policies and funding that strengthen our food systems and ensure no one in our community is left behind.

I met with the Homeowner Protection Program (HOPP) to hear updates on the important work they’ve been doing to protect homeowners across our region. I’m committed to fighting for stable funding for HOPP in the upcoming state budget so families can stay in their homes.

I joined AFSCME at their Labor Breakfast to talk about the issues working people are facing across New York. Thank you CSEA and our labor partners for the opportunity to connect and have conversations about the challenges facing New York’s workforce.

Two of my bills passed in the Senate: S1703, which authorizes pharmacists to administer injections for contraceptive use, and S2058, which requires each institution within the SUNY and CUNY to have at least one vending machine offering emergency contraception for purchase.

At this week’s Joint Legislative Public Hearing on Agriculture, Parks, and Recreation, I spoke with Acting Commissioner Kathy Moser about additional steps the Legislature can take to strengthen initiatives such as NY SWIMS and BRICKS across the state.

I was pleased to join colleagues and business leaders from across New York at The Business Council of New York State’s 2026 Annual Legislators’ Reception in Albany. I appreciated the opportunity to listen, connect, and continue building partnerships that help New York thrive.

I joined Assemblymember Anna Kelles for a meeting with the Tompkins County Legislature to share a state update and discuss priorities impacting our communities, including affordability, utilities, healthcare, infrastructure, and workforce needs.

I was grateful to spend a morning at the Greater Ithaca Activities Center for their MLK Jr. Community Breakfast. We shared conversation, reflection, and community in the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy. Thank you to GIAC for creating such a welcoming and meaningful space.

I visited Village Grove in Trumansburg for a site visit and to congratulate Ithaca Neighborhood Housing Services on the occasion of its 50th anniversary. It was a pleasure to tour this community, meet the dedicated team behind the work.

Congratulations to the nurses at Cayuga Medical Center on their vote to unionize! Our local nurses provide the highest quality of care for their patients and they deserve safe staffing levels and fair working conditions.

I was grateful for the opportunity to join the Maine-Endwell Central School District to guest judge for their neighborhood project. These young entrepreneurs worked diligently to present project ideas for empty storefronts in the Endwell area.

I partnered with Assemblymember Anna Kelles to host Community Office Hours at the Cortland Free Library. Our teams connected with community members to offer support on everything from housing and healthcare to SNAP benefits and utility assistance. Thank you to everyone who came.

I joined my colleagues at the Capitol to stand up for New Yorkers who are being stretched thin by rising utility costs. Across our state, working families, seniors on fixed incomes, and people with disabilities are already struggling to keep up with the cost of living.
