John Huggan interviews outgoing R&A chief executive Martin Slumbers. And it is absolutely brilliant. Huggy pulls no punches and Slumbers answers everything. Slumbers has made a great contribution to golf. And so has Huggy. A must read.

So playing college golf in America is 'a must' if you want to be a top pro? Really?? The top 20 in 2024 DPWT Order of Merit. 13 didn't play college golf at all. 2 (McIntyre, Wallace) bagged it after a year. Only 5 went all 4 years, and only 2 of those 5 (Scott, Horshel) played at a 'big' school.
