Our regular Wednesday evening Meeting for Worship from 6pm-6:45pm will be held at the San Francisco Friends School starting July 9–please join us!

In worship, my spirit would try to settle, but time and time again, Spirit spoke the same message, 'The Light is needed there.'"

A group of Quakers are marching more than 300 miles to demonstrate against the Trump administration's crackdown on immigrants. Organizers of the march say their protest seeks to show solidarity with migrants and other groups that are being targeted by the administration.

Opposing immigration enforcement in houses of worship, Friends General Conference joined an interfaith lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and two of its enforcement agencies, the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

"If you are a Quaker who wants to get involved and wants to participate in the issue of immigration," Pedro Rios, the director of AFSC's U.S.–Mexico Border Program, advised in this 2015 video, "begin with your local Meeting or begin with local organizations that you are already in contact with."

Alice Paul was a Quaker and a key figure in the women's rights movement. She organized demonstrations, that, along with her heroic conduct while imprisoned for the cause, changed public opinion and led to the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which gave some women the right to vote in 1920.

Today at 5pm, we will gather at the meetinghouse for a potluck meal featuring black-eyed pea soup and cornbread (meal prep will be happening at 4:30 to 5 p.m.). Then we will have midweek Meeting for Worship in person and on Zoom as usual, at 6 to 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

When we spoke to Chloe Schwenke about Christmas, she emphasized the powerful imagery of Jesus born into poverty: "That somebody could be that poor, that humble, and... yet be a person whose life and journey and words and sharing have been so influential... It’s a true spiritual gift."

First, a friendly Friend will greet you! Go into the worship space quietly and sit wherever you like. Settle yourself into the hour of silence. At any time, someone may be moved by the Spirit to stand and share a message. Worship is over when a designated person shakes hands with their neighbor.
