Did some crazy geometry nodes work in blender yesterday to fix some of the issues Iโve had with using curve profiles for tongues and tails. Made it so I can interpolate to a different curve profile as it gets closer to the tip! Also sooo happy with the shaders

Thanks! Also using your other examples for inspiration, I got something really satisfying set up on my own shader, using a slightly different approach, using the curve tangent and comparing it to the curve-aligned (vector projected) normals between post-meshing vertices!

More rough test footage. Setting up this technique on the other model took roughly 5 - 10 mins. However, because he is a thinner snake you can't go too large or the shrinkwrap fails to register. I think may need something else to roughly stretch before the shrinkwrap.

Suffers from some shrinkwrap jitter but this is just an initial test. Duplicated the model with all modifiers. Simplified to just an outer shell, added the outside shrinkwrap and then setup as a surface deform on the main model.

Gray CTR bones key animated & green DEF bones apply corrections. 1. Simple flat hidden mesh, using hook modifiers to follow the CTR bones. 2. Hidden mesh uses "outside" shrinkwrap to conform to sphere (or any object) 3. DEF bones are damp tracked to vertex groups on hidden mesh
