A new study examines how varying levels of heat and humidity affect bed bugs (Cimex lectularius). Generally, low humidity decreases bed bug survival, but the most lethal combination found in the study was high humidity (90%) and high heat (40 degrees Celsius).

AI-powered image recognition and citizen science have enabled the potential first detection of invasive Anopheles stephensi mosquitoes in Madagascar, highlighting new tools for global malaria surveillance.

Can interventions both reduce malaria and destabilize vector populations? Study by Tristan Dennis & Mafalda Viana explored this using pyrethroid-pyriproxifen nets. I am back with great news. A project by a former undergrad, Liz Wynne, is now out in publication. In it she discovered a mosquito in the genus Culex that lays eggs from the air (like a Toxorhynchites) and exhibits skip oviposition (spreading eggs around). An amazing discovery! 🦟🍾 rdcu.be/eBkFM
