It has been quite an interesting week with students @harvard.edu (college seniors) reaching out to me for help on their team project on freight and logistics to senior folks asking me whether I would be willing to mentor them to secure another position after they have lost their jobs.

I enjoy teaching my Humanitarian Logistics & Healthcare class @isenbergumass.bsky.social very much. And, lately, I am increasingly hearing from @umassamherst.bsky.social alums who took my class and want to speak with me about different career paths related to my class.

After Russia's mass strikes on Kyiv's energy infrastructure on Jan. 9, 70 percent of the city was left without electricity, and over 6,000 residential buildings lost both heat and light. As of Feb. 24, more than 1,100 residential buildings remain without heating.

Today, in solidarity with Ukraine, I'm wearing my blue & yellow scarf that is #MadeinUkraine to teach my two courses @isenbergumass.bsky.social. And the instruction will be in-person despite all the snow. 2 of my students, who are in eastern MA, won't be able to make it but my classes are recorded.

Today begins the 5th year of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia. Ukraine is still standing in its valiant fight for freedom against the aggressor. The civilized world needs to do what is needed to fully support Ukraine in its victory.

Waiting to hear from @umassamherst.bsky.social as to whether we can teach in person tomorrow although I saw that officials in Massachusetts have asked people to work from home tomorrow, if possible.

Estimated snow accumulation in @townofamherst.bsky.social is about 10 inches. Relatives in the Providence area have gotten almost 3 feet whereas in Colorado are jealous.

My alma mater Brown University announced that it will remain closed tomorrow with no in-person classes but remote ones held at the discretion of the instructor. I have been going over my lectures for tomorrow whether remote or in person. I have students who commute hours from Boston.

Ukraine is fighting for peace and democracy all over the world. Ukainians are fighting for us.

It's an exciting hockey final at the Olympics. Most see it as US versus Canada final but I see it as UMass Lowell versus @umassamherst.bsky.social since Connor Hellebuyck, the US goalie, played for the former, and Cale Makar for the latter.

It's only Saturday & my alma mater already posted: "With significant winter weather conditions expected, Brown University administrative and academic offices will be closed and no in-person classes will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026. Classes scheduled for Monday may be held remotely ..."
