Day 9 Got caught up with other things in life, so just doing a recap page again, should be moving onto learning Gesture soon. Just used some pages to simplify certain parts of the skeleton to understand things a bit better

Recap Study of yesterdays work I didnt mean to animate it, but I was changing things without reference and was trying to come up with a method that I could think while drawing.

Small study today on perspective. Did some note taking on post underneath. YES THE CUBES, THE CUBES EVERYONE GOES ON ABOUT. Was just creating ways to figure out how best to approach proportions in areas.

As I mentioned, Ive been pretty burnt out to the point I cant do much when opening a 3D program, so Im taking this time to start properly learning to draw Ive started yet another account primarily for studies and start doing this stuff in my free time. @jones-sketches.bsky.social

After a lot of delays etc, I finally got promoted to Mid-Level Animator at work. UNFORTUNATELY, I am very burnt out and can't open a 3D program right now due to the amount of stress lately. So im using this as an opportunity to carry on my studies with 2D and focus more on gesture drawing.

Pose studies are just for fun. I dont take them seriously all the time, but they're helpful for seeing and getting an idea of how anatomy is connected in areas. Do pose studies time to time :)

When I do studies in 3D, I try and do some observation with my reference when I first start. Main things are such as: LOA Balance Pinch + Stretch Simple vs Complex Directionality Negative shapes Etc. This just helps me as a rough observation before going in that I know roughly how things are.

Reference Vs Pose for myself. This was an interesting one as you cant fully gain an idea of what is going on without any context, so to me I wanted to push the directionality and make things more clear. Even though part of the essence of pose has changed, it does make for a nice idea in areas.

When I do timed pose studies it does depending on how I feel about things. Sometimes Ill take creative changes and change certain parts of the pose, but more than most I will be looking at storytelling. While the pose hasn't changed MUCH, it has at least changed the intent of the pose in areas.

Continuing my 3D Posing guide sheet (My own personal way I approach things with notes etc) Wondering what things folk see that may be important to add? For example Silhouette Vs Silhouette Value to help with understanding closed silhouettes depend on values to help based on char design etc

WIP 03 Been busy with work. So just took a couple hours out of today to carry working on this a bit more. Still needs me animating more body parts to get it working/flow nicer. It'll get there, then I can animate easier sequences.

After a few (too many) headaches, finally finished building a new computer for animating. God I hate how expensive computers are getting..

Will be a small while before new animation stuff arrives since I’ve moved + currently building a new computer Primarily only for animating. But at the very least I won’t have as terrible a time animating in blender once I’ve built it :)

My Father has passed away. I don’t have a lot of words to say as our relationship was complicated. But despite what happened between myself and him, I wouldn’t be the person I am today had it not been for him in the end Ultimately.

Adding cell shade Last thing now I see is to make sure the textures are correct since i notice some inconsistencies. For reference ive added the before and now after of the edit. While not perfect, I am happier with getting somewhere a bit closer to "on-model" before I animate. (Really versatile rig

Currently making a fair few changes to an Aak model to be more on model. There is a LOT of stuff to do still such as hand painting textures some more and such, but you can see the changes currently. Got notes from an Aak artist to make these changes, and iterating bit by bit.

Very roughly put together for a friend but may as well share here. Mainly shows how rough i start and the method I use. Pretty much iterating each time while using my notes and reference. So its okay if it starts out rough/shit as the important thing is getting the idea down :) I hate walk cycles
