It was rather surreal to see the remains of a ducking stool today in St Peter's Church, Myddle. Described as 'The Oldest Known remedy for evil tongues'. It was often used against 'unquiet women' and witches. They were dunked in nearby Marton Pool. This one dates from the 1660s. #Shropshire #history
