Overall, I mostly enjoyed the event once I was inside. But is it worth all the other hassles we experienced? Let’s just say it’s doubtful we’ll be back anytime soon Personally, I think Fright Fest at Six Flags Magic Mountain would be a better value and experience (especially this year)

On the good side, the production values of the mazes surpassed our expectations (which, in all honestly, were very low). Scare actors were hit and miss, but we almost didn’t care much with great design, lighting, and sound impressing us

And I have to say again how crappy it was to enter a crowded line for a maze at 12:30 (event closed at 1) for one last maze, get fairly close to the front, and then be told “Maze is closed! Everyone leave the line!” 🤬 And of course, all the other mazes were already closed by then as well. 🤬

Once we pulled into Long Beach, it took about 2.5 hours to get from parking to inside DH. That’s ridiculous. Streets in LB gridlock trying to get to parking. Parking takes forever. Shuttles in were surprisingly fast, but lines to enter took 1.5 hours, and there’s no clarity which line is for what

Further Dark Harbor thoughts: it’s not really for the hardcore haunt crowd. It’s more for people who would usually go out to a bar, but wanted something different. Which is fine, there’s certainly an audience for that… but it’s not really my scene

Overall Dark Harbor thoughts: Set design/production much, much better than we expected Scareactor presence hit and miss Line management hit and miss Despite issues (mostly just getting in the damn place), overall wasn’t a bad time

Nearly 2 hours just to get inside… 🥴😠 but we made it And to their credit, once inside, it looks pretty cool!

The line for security is very, very long… but at least it’s a nice view

On our way to Dark Harbor… and already, streets around Long Beach are getting gridlocked trying to get to parking. Fun times. 😡 Fortunately, shuttles were actually pretty well organized, with three buses pulling up at once, and loading them all simultaneously

Have to admit that Carnage has also improved since opening weekend. It was not bad before, but much better now, and a lot more scareactors

Friday nights are relatively calm at Six Flags Magic Mountain Fright Fest! Only mazes with any sort of line are Saw and Carnage… everything else has either been a walk on, or a very short wait. I’d imagine Thursdays will be very, very quiet. That would make it a great value if you can make it!

A glimpse into the new Halloween merch store (by Build-a-Bear), and a bar has popped up in the old Scrambler area.

Trick ‘r Treat has received many upgrades since opening weekend… both outside and in! I think this is our favorite maze this year at Six Flags Magic Mountain Fright Fest!

We’re noticing there’s quite a few lantern activation points up (including Halloween bubble stations… but there is more than that, haha). We’ve been seeing the Sky Tower changing colors, which is one of them! Looking forward to getting a lantern for our next visit!

The queue set up for Wyatt Sicks is still terrible. They should never do this set up again. Credit to the team members trying their best, but it’s still awful and needlessly confusing, and leads to a lot of people cutting in line (some even unintentionally)

I did get a confirmation that Jason’s BBQ on the lower lot opens at 5. So if you get there before 6, you can get an AP discount (assuming you have one)

Why does the line for Scarecrow always move sooo slooow 😠😠😠

While out in Chino Hills for family, we got to visit the second location of Soup ‘n Fresh, the restaurant that seems to have many of the old recipes from Souplantation. Waited for about 30 min, but good food!

GA was let in for Terrifier/Poltergeist at 6:30 again at Hogsmeade (and it appears by Waterworld, though Hogsemeade gets there faster)… and our wait for Terrifier will be 10 about minutes 😁

Got the app and Gouda cheese fondue at Jason’s BBQ on the lower lot. Pretty good! And if you can get there before 6 (it seems to be open by at least 5:30), you can still get an AP discount! Same goes for Slash Bar.

Hearing reports that KSF no longer allows video or photography in mazes… and personally, I say good. Maybe have a night early on where media can film, but after that, good riddance. Slows down the mazes so much. Hope other haunts do the same, honestly
