Brazil and the Netherlands are the most ITV teams when it comes to watching the World Cup in the UK, I think. Spain are the most BBC team, with France a close second.

Seeing a lot of stuff about Japan not deserving that, but I thought Brazil were streets ahead over the ninety - or hundred - minutes. Second half was total domination.

The whole "Burnham is Starmer with a northern accent" line of attack doesn't really land when: a) Burnham's biggest strengths are some of Starmer's biggest weaknesses; and b) They have quite publicly been at each other's throats for the past couple of years.

English taxi driver clearly picked up on my Scottish burr and asked if I had been watching the World Cup. "Not really," came my response. Then I professed no interest in the sport of football. Got to get up pretty early to fool me, mate!

Starting Shankland was an obvious nonsense. He is a painfully limited footballer. But it is even more mindboggling to me that we are almost 70 minutes in, 3-0 down and he is still out there, aimlessly waddling around the place.

This is like watching Jimmy Thelin's Aberdeen at Celtic Park or Ibrox. Absolutely gobsmacked that an arch-pragmatist like Clarke has decided to set up like this.

I'm fed up of folk complaining about "Clarkeball". This isn't Clarkeball. It has none of the characteristics of a good Steve Clarke team - disciplined, good basics, playing the percentages. You know, the 'boring' type of football that got us to the World Cup by winning our group as third seeds.

This is a good thing, actually.

Lots of praise for World Cup officiating, but there has been an overcorrection. Support 'letting the game flow', but more than a few games now where referees have been ignoring obvious fouls. Also happy with high bar for VAR, but Konsa incident is example of overlooking a clear and obvious error.

Spare a thought for all the England fans at Boxpark and other watch parties who will have been forced to drink their pints rather than performatively throw them over other attendees.

I mean, that is a penalty for Ghana, isn’t it? I’m all for a high bar for VAR interventions, but several times across this tournament now where that has graduated to ignoring fairly blatant fouls.

Some of my fellow Scots are getting far too easily rattled by England fans, unfortunately. It’s sad to see.

Uruguay v Cape Verde has been a great game. However, like with Scotland v Morocco, it is another game where a referee clearly trying to 'let the game flow' - which has been a theme of the tournament, in fairness - is a bit too close to veering into 'ignoring blatant fouls' territory.

What if Keir Starmer turns up tomorrow with a sick fade and just point-blank refuses to admit that he is under any pressure. Is there a plan in place for that?

Better in the second half. Just needed that one chance but it eluded us. Lack of creativity and composure in the final third. Hendry and Gunn very good. McLean did well. I don't mind a referee letting a game flow, but that was taking it to a ridiculous extreme. Disappointing but not disastrous.

Played with fear for the first thirty minutes. Nervous on the ball, erratic without it. Better towards the end. There might be something in it for us, but we will eventually need to open up and take more risks. We probably need more pace and ball-carrying on the park, either Gannon-Doak or Curtis.
