🚨BREAKING: Our affiliate @redistrictfdn.bsky.social is taking action to stop Texas’s mid-decade gerrymander. Today, plaintiffs supported by the NRF filed a preliminary injunction to block TX’s new congressional map that further dilutes the voices of Black and Latino voters.

Trump tried to pressure Georgia officials in 2020 to “find” him 11,780 votes. Now he’s pressuring Texas Republicans to “find” him five congressional seats. The difference? In Georgia, officials stood up to him. In Texas, Republicans are falling in line. Our democracy is on the line.

Anti-democracy extremists in Texas are trying to gerrymander their way to more power. If they succeed, they’ll redraw maps anywhere they can to stack the deck in their favor. That’s why it’s absolutely critical that we give this fight everything we’ve got.

SB 153 = SAVE Act for Ohio: ❌ Bans drop boxes ❌ Makes voters jump through hoops to prove citizenship ❌ Imposes burdensome and unnecessary requirements on election officials It’s not about “election integrity.” It’s about keeping people from voting.

🚫 SB 153 mirrors the proposed federal SAVE Act. 🚫 It creates proof-of-citizenship hurdles that would block tens of thousands of eligible Ohioans from registering or voting—disproportionately affecting married women, students, and low-income voters. This is targeted suppression.

Today, trial began in a major Voting Rights Act case challenging Texas’s congressional map. Despite people of color driving 95% of the state’s growth, the map dilutes their power—which is why our affiliate, the NRF, is in court fighting to correct it.

Thanks to the advocacy of Black Alabamians and organizations like @allontheline.bsky.social, Black voters in Alabama will continue voting in fair congressional districts that allow them to elect candidates of their choice. This is a win for Alabama, and proof that progress is possible.

In 2024, Black Alabamians made history by electing two Black members of Congress when they voted on a congressional map that, for the first time ever, was fair. Thanks to the determination and perseverance of these Black voters, this equal and fair representation will remain in place.

A federal court has reaffirmed that the VRA must be enforced in Alabama—meaning the state must continue to have 2 Black opportunity districts. Today’s ruling confirms what we’ve known all along: Black Alabamians have a fundamental right to *real* electoral power.

State lawmakers in Florida are trying to make it nearly impossible for regular folks to put constitutional amendments on the ballot. It’s already tough to pass one in the state — the only reason extremists want to make it harder is to ensure they can rig the system in their favor.

The court should make Alabama’s current, Voting Rights Act (VRA)-compliant map permanent for the rest of the decade. That map, which was adopted by the lower federal court following the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark decision in Allen v. Milligan, includes two Black opportunity districts.

Yesterday, a two-week trial began in Caster v. Allen, a redistricting lawsuit that will determine the fate of Alabama’s congressional map. The NRF is calling on the district court to reject the state’s attempts to re-install a gerrymandered map that includes just one Black opportunity district.
