Starting to think that my hopes of "things will settle down after the Japan conference" are a bit far fetched considering my next two months are occupied by exams, midterms, 2 or 3 conferences plus my parents coming over to visit. Somehow. I feel like it's not gonna be too calm

working at the cutting edge of research on something that's never been done before is great until you're reading papers and all of them are like "the prospects for this are awful and we're not gonna detect this soon (conservative estimate)" bc everyone's a pessimist
