The Mariners $8,218,200 pool is one of the lower in the class. A couple of different ways to spread it around, but given they traded their comp pick, I could see them spreading it around a bit more evenly than they have in years past. Slot value for R1 pick this year is ~$3.8 million.

Not necessarily a bad thing, but just an interesting thing I noticed with Cal. Looking at his Bat Tracking data, his swing tilt (i.e. steepness) is 5* higher so far this year than 2025. Steeper swings tend to struggle with the high fastball, which is something that is giving Cal trouble right now.

Seth Hernandez exhibited why he was the top prep pitcher taken in the 2025 draft! The teenage righty comfortably sat in triple digits while flashing a pair of strong secondaries. He might already have the best fastball of any pitching prospect! The arm talent is absurd!

Ryan Sloan is filthy. Ryan Sloan is nasty. Ryan Sloan is the best prospect in the Mariners farm system. He may be the best pitching prospect in the entire sport. True Ace level ceilings are rare, and he has one.

I say yes. The chase rate was still not great (36.8%), but he made significantly more in-zone contact than 2024. 2024: 75.9% 2025: 82.7% With Canzone, you can live with the chase if he is doing damage in the zone against the fastball because the impact is special. (1/2)
