I hate how my last post was found by the erotica crowd. Nude imagery is not synonymous with erotic imagery.

I wanted to show a subject who was accustomed to small spaces finding freedom to express in an open emotive playground. @astridkallsen.bsky.social honors me with her interpretation of this moment in Chapter 10’s story and I received it with the gravity it demands. They deserve to be seen.

Only one person came. One person had a family emergency. The other overslept due to insomnia. I felt defeated. Until we shot for a little bit.

Tried to get a group together for a birthday shoot this weekend but my life has me feeling so defeated… I don’t even know if I wanna do it anymore. Every creative thought I have feels like self flagellation. No creation. No photos. No art. Just work. Don’t think about anything else. Just work.

This one came together out of frustration. I hadn't created anything of note for quite some time, and I told my collaborator I felt stuck. She had her own frustrations. So she came over, we tore the basement apart and we created based on the feeling of being stuck. Forever grateful for this set.

I realize that a lot of what I have to say with this camera involves the extreme terror I feel when I am creatively still.

The first time I tried fine art photography was in 2020, shortly before the outbreak of COVID. I was stuck in the memories of the life my mother built for me. When she died, it all crumbled, and I spent a year not only mourning, but wishing I could go back to that life.

Someone called me the “Fine Art Photographer of #Cosplay” and I held onto that compliment like my life depended on it. I never feel like it. My approach to fine art differs from my approach to #cosplayphotography. And I think that has to do a lot with who I work with and how we approach the goal.
