V.V. Giri, fourth president of India, was born #OTD 1894. Among the Giri material in De Valera's papers is this letter to de Valera re Giri's time in Ireland where he writes: "Irishmen and Indians always tell me that next to being an Indian I am an Irishman" (22 November 1949).
