Saddened by the tragic events at the Lapu Lapu festival in Vancouver. Our thoughts are with the victims’ families, the Filipino Canadian community, and everyone affected.

The passing of Pope Francis marks the end of a rare kind of leadership. He showed humility where many chose silence. When he came to Canada to address the Church’s role in the Residential School system, the acknowledgment mattered for many. We reflect today on his life. May he rest in peace.
