8 string playthrough complete! So for the synth I thought the amount of certain riffs it gives you is too little so it was a bit more reliant on me getting lucky to have a good round. For 8 string, all the fun riffs are late, so when first getting the instrument its not as fun.

Finished the synth playthrough of Fretless: The Wrath of Riffson, its a very different playstyle than I'm used to, but it was fun to figure out. My next play of the game will be with the 8 string, from what I can tell it's basically a blood mage, which is a class I've always had fun with.

I was in a waiting room for a long time yesterday, and I had the thought that more waiting rooms should have treadmills (do any?). I get why they don't like maintenance and such, but it would be cool. At least have some good standing room though for people who don't like to sit for long.

I've barely even started Fretless, and it's already a 10/10 game for me, go play it!

Nine Sols: I highly recommend this game. I give it a 7/10 but only because it heavily relies on parry mechanics, without it'd be an 8. Art is great, story is great, movement is great, controls are good, music is alright, and difficulty is high. There's a bit of gore, so avoid if that's an issue.

In case you missed it, I got a new PB on Thursday. Only publishing on Youtube now because I needed to make a thumbnail and I didn't feel like it 'til now. Getting close to the sub 1:05 game time which is my main goal, I might push a little longer, but I have other things I want to get to too.

In Super Mario World, green berries increase the timer. By strategically eating them to make the timer pass 100 multiple times, the music can be sped up repeatedly. It turns out that the music engine cannot handle more than 20 speed-ups, and slows down to a crawl instead.

So I was browsing my steam wishlist to see what's all on sale, and wow I totally forgot this was going to be my next casual game after Bo (whoops). It's made by Youtube creator @robscallon.bsky.social I've been following for his music for a while.

Lostprophets came on in my truck today (I haven't taken the MP3 player out since the initial news hit), and while I didn't feel disgust anymore, I'm still not ready to listen to that music. Maybe someday.

Was talking to a doomer friend who gave up art long before all the latest bullshit came around and got really invigorated remembering that drawing is just fucking COOL! Give up? Buddy, I cannot even begin to communicate how awesome being an artist is!

AI is bad in its current implementation yea, but I just miss how early AI videos amorphously switched between concepts, because that's something that happens in my dreams all the time and it was cool to see it in actual video.

I don't know how much I can talk about my actual process but I love blathering on about art stuff. Theory, design, whatever the hell. I'm less an artist because I feel some grand calling and more because it's just an endless well of fascinating things to learn and practice (& I like telling stories)

One of my few complaints about Bo was that casually the final boss was a big difficulty spike, not in that it was hard per se, but rather that it was a HUGE endurance fight, much more than any previous fight, and so the difficulty that was there was amplified a lot! Now there's 33% less fight!
