Something I appreciate about Marjane Satrapi is that she didn’t let them pigeonhole her into a career of nothing but autobio comics. She did so many things that were like “Really??? The Persepolis artist???” She directed a a serial killer horror comedy starring Ryan Reynolds!

I didn't like leaving the hospital after seeing a friend all twisted up, but I did appreciate the deep clouds and dark greens outside. I can swing with the city in May. Outside the Black Frog, one of my favorite places to re-center.

I always thought one my strengths in comics was clarity of staging, and I credited any success I had in those areas to learning storyboards in the adult years… but I've been reading some of the stuff I did at thirteen and almost all the jokes land, & the pacing is there. I was out to entertain!

Loved seeing Ana again this weekend, who I met back in the Rocky and Bullwinkle animation days. She’s exploring the tunnels of Olympic Village with Susan (l) in this shot. I didn’t see them after, but I’m sure they got out. Thanks again for the ice cream in cones, Ana!
