I’ve learned today that my students still think I’m in school, and I had to explain that I already graduated college when they asked what grade I was in. They didn’t believe me, I’m sobbing. I knew I looked young, but I didn’t expect to hear it from a kid 😭

I love my job, but it definitely drains what little social battery I have lol

I was looking at some of the music I composed years ago (all in 4-part harmony), and what in the name of parallel fifths was I writing. Younger me did not know basic music theory ToT

I accidentally infected myself with the thought of Sethos playing double bass (specifically with the German bow hold). Unfortunately, I don’t think I can write it well because bass is the one instrument in string orchestra that I have no idea how to play

My old roommates saw me buy an otamatone *one* time, and now they send me photos of otamatones that they find at the store because it reminds them of me. I’m flattered, but it’s also really funny to be associated with otamatones

I haven’t touched my violin in a hot minute (I need to brush up for my new job), and all my pegs have slipped ToT let’s hope I can fix it without getting whipped in the face by a broken string

I was having fun writing harmonies, and then I’ve realized I might have to write a new piano part because the one I wrote in the solo arrangement is basically a reduction of the other voice parts …stuff like this makes me glad I didn’t major in music

…how do I write tenor and bass parts in a choir arrangement that’s not just building chords on every eighth note and is actually singable in the language I’m composing in I’m just gonna come back to it later. My brain can’t do this right now ToT

I’m writing a choir arrangement (as requested by my old choir director), but I’m trying to give altos the melody. Can I do it? Idk, we’ll see Sopranos might have to sing a bit high since I can’t lower the key without the lowest note dipping outside the recommended alto range
