Last night we were talking about whether The Necks are getting more emotionally intense, or if our emotional response to them was intensifying, and decided probably the latter. But this morning, thinking about Causeway on Disquiet, maybe it’s actually the former?

With the possible exception of The Necks, maybe Neil Young, I must've written more about Hiss Golden Messenger in the past 20 years than any other artist. This is one more good reason why, and why I interviewed Mike for his first MOJO feature this month. Shaky Eyes...

Yes it’s a good essay. But i also find it frustrating that pieces like this often seem to exist mostly to reinforce the beliefs of an audience who already basically knows or assumes they know this stuff, rather than engage an audience that doesn’t (how the latter happens in 2026 ofc I wish I knew).

Probably say this every year, but if you ever have the slightest inclination to try watching cycling on TV, absolutely the best place to start is with today's Strade Bianche race. And this year you get to watch the most exciting young rider in the world, whose name is genuinely pronounced Sex Ass.
