41 albums I really liked in 2025, listed and linked here now (all but one on Bandcamp I think), plus extras. Still believe that every year is a great year for music if you know where to look for the stuff that'll suit your tastes, and how to circumnavigate the stuff that'll annoy you.

Time for a thread of my favourite records from 2025. Might go on a bit. Not in order, but Bitchin Bajas' Inland See is maybe the album I played most in the past 12 months (along with the boot of their show in Glob in October) 1/

New Shane Parish is as good as you'd hope. Not just because it's conceptually so beautiful - a project in how the fundaments of a music are not always what you think they are? - but because Autechre Guitar exists as great music regardless of the backstory/provenance.

I hate this England team. If the Baz project was to save test cricket, they’ve failed; no one outside committed fans still have a clue who Duckett etc are. What they have done is alienate actual test cricket fans by playing consistently like morons.

Plenty of reasons why The Stone Roses were so much better than the legions of British bands who wanted to be them. But a big one was having a bassist who could hold it together with so much natural funk and drive and absolute joy in his playing. RIP Mani.
