I've just started listening to the audio version of Prime Minister Mark Carney's 2021 book "Value(s): Building a Better World for All." He clearly understands just how deadly serious the climate crisis is, and was also thinking/writing about biodiversity loss. Hearing that from him gives me hope.

Last fall, a blizzard of ads started running on Meta, targeting a tiny collection of postal codes in Southern Ontario. The ads seemed low-budget, independent. They weren't. In reality, the ads were coordinated by a PR firm with strong Conservative Party ties.

Trump's aggression offers Canada an opportunity to rethink the most harmful aspects of our economy. Instead of seeking new markets for raw lumber, we can restore forests. We can leave oil in the ground, put fewer trucks on the road, localize food & energy production. We can build a better future.

I get not wanting to split the vote in the Ontario election, but I don't understand how various strategic voting websites are making calls in ridings where some candidates are still being announced. Polling is important, but so are community connections local-level name recognition. #ONpoli

So, the Ontario election is official. For people who (like me) are adamantly against another Ford government, I'm thinking we spend less of our limited time and energy trying to *change* votes, and focus more on engaging people we know in real life who likely didn't even vote last time. #OnPoli

Looking forward to watching this tonight. I'm not up-to-date with the Ontario curriculum, but I hope some level of civics starts well before Grade 10! I would think Grades 5/6 would be perfect to learn about municipal government and how to get involved, then 7/8 provincial, and 9/10 federal.
