I officially took over all the responsibilities for IT... oh mah gawd (its not that bad, i'm just being dramatic)

I’ve posted this before, but here’s a reminder to students and juniors that the game industry has never been this bad in terms of opportunities. The amount of studio closures and layoffs is unprecedented. Not even the crash in the 80s was this bad. I see a lot of talented folks beating themselves up

God. Seeing nettle sentinel in the year 2026 makes me think about the elf engine of infinite that I ran some of my locals with back in the day. Lorwyn and shadowmor were such bangers. Oh and this is an awesome cosplay.

Look, I know how to find, interview and utilize good talent and I will do WVERYTHING in my power to get them signed on with an offer in hand. I will absolutely advocate on this point that a good hiring manager, director or whatever will do this. That’s all I am saying.

In my experience, it is corpo speak for "You will spend more time in office than remote, so that at the end of the year we can say that most people 'WANT' to be in the office and change the policy to be fully onsite." Specially true if they put up hurdles to even do remote.

Alright we got about 9 hours of resin printing to do today, which is pretty neat. And I am doing some home improvement. Which is also pretty cool. Oh! And I got a first draft of my books cover sent to me, so color me more stoked!

I get to play with electricity tomorrow! The last of some switch updates in a room in the house. So that is fun.

Alright, final chapter of the book I was writing is off to some readers to get some feedback. If that goes well, then I can happily say, that I finished writing a book and going to go the route of self-publishing. Didn't ever think that I would say something like that.

This 100%, but this also extends to so many things. Being able to give good, actionable and often critical feedback is a skill that needs to be developed not just to give to others, but to also receive. It is an entire feedback (heh) loop in of itself.

Ordered some resin and a heater for the unit so I can start printing tomorrow. That is some exciting stuff right there.

I need to get a heating set up for my resin printers. I must get a print going this weekend or I might honestly perish.

What people don’t tell you about having a standing desk, is that if you get up and stand, you lose the ability to sit back down if you have a cat.

Found the model that I want to paint. Now, how to deal with the fact that it is winter, AND all my printing stuff is in the garage. It being cold makes things much much harder. Hmmmmmm

Well… that was certainly an ending for stranger things. Was acceptable, all things considered. Did a much better job than…Game of Thrones did at least.

Took a nap and woke up wanting to work on some painting. But the airbrush is in the garage and it’s cold. So now I am researching ways that I can do a set up in my basement

so like.. I get it now. I would always do my zenithal highlights by hand with a brush before....but an airbrush is just peak painting. Why did I wait so long?

But like.. what if I just stood outside in my garage and airbrushed… in only boxers? That couldn’t possibly be a bad idea.

I didn’t think my shoulder form was going to be as consistent as it was but I am happy to say that I managed to bust right through it.

So I am doing the scary thing but I didn’t print anything out. I found some old prints that are perfect for learning and practicing with the airbrush for skin tones. So that is what I am currently mucking about with!

Apparently 5,100 lbs is like lifting a van. 🚐 I feel it.

I have been thinking that all day, today was Thursday. I was very confused to find out it was Friday. But this also explained why like…nobody was online at work today.

Yeah I think…this weekend I am going to print out some of the files that I have been eyeballing and practice with skin tones with an airbrush and brush. That sounds like a good challenge for the weekend. Plus it’s a good break from writing/revising.

Can't wait for the Stranger Things season finale next week. Not because this season is good or anything, hello plot armor and 80s callback exposition.... But mostly so that we can all collectively "Move On" from the show. I will however say that it is not as bad as GoT final season.
