So I took part in that Godot XR jam from a couple weeks ago and basically spent the first 4 days getting VR working on Linux. Now that I did, though, it’s pretty great. godot’s XR tools have come a long way and now I’m excited to play with them again :D #godot #xr #vr

ADHD hits hard sometimes. I was working on my game’s email client, started wondering how email works, then spent the next 2 hours setting up my own email server. I only just realized I got lost in a rabbit hole. So it’s cool that I have that now, but my game’s email client still isn’t done 😅

I also got a lot of stuff hooked up to trenchbroom. I can set up doors, paths, NPCs that walk on those paths. I can place cameras and hackable desktops. I'm really liking having all of my level design stuff in a dedicated tool. Helps with the focus. #solodev #gamedev

Just finished making a few custom resources for rapidly making those hackable computer desktop scenes. Now I just list out the icons and what they do instead of placing each individually #godotengine #gamedev #indiedev

godot's whole plugin system is really pleasant to work with. I started messing with custom gizmos and that's been pretty cool #godotengine

I've been able to get some good level ideas down in my notebook, but I'm finding it kind of grating to build them out. I think I may spend some time on my stream tonight just working on some tooling for myself. #gamedev #solodo

Got some pretty good progress yesterday. I took this sketch of the "hacker den, " made my first set of 3d tiles in blender, and used the godot gridmap to make the space. I added a bit of clutter and lighting to liven it up, but it's good! Next up is the street #gamedev #godotengine #3dart

So this week, I think I want to have the blocked out map for the tutorial done. It includes both interior and exterior spaces, which isn't something I've done before. I need to look into how godot renders large meshes too. I'll probably need to split it up. #gamedev #godotengine

So I’m flipping through “101 things I learned in architecture school” while I wait for this meeting and I came across this page. It’s the exact opposite advice that I’ve received over my entire career as a web developer. That probably means this is actually very good advice.

So i've been re-reading The Art of Game Design again and early on the talk about "listening to your game," right. My game really wants to be an immersive sim, where you manipulate office workers... I guess I should listen to it. Immersive sims are usually part puzzles anyway, right? #gamedev

Did some more #gamedev today! Fixed a long standing bug with incorrectly placed camera ids. It was one of those bugs that really drained a lot of motivation from me, so i'm glad that it's finally squashed. And got the MC rigged Nothing wild done, but a good day #solodev

I also started making the 3d model for the main character of camera shy. Not sure if I want to have PNG cutouts or low poly 3d models during dialogue scenes and whatnot, so making a rough mesh of her for now and juts stretching the intial design over it. #solodev #art #gamedev
