Mine has to be Piscod. (Bridget Piscod b. 1728 Elloughton with Brough, East Yorkshire, was my 5x great-grandmother). Apparently it's a rare name and an older variant of Pescod which described a seller or picker of peas! #genealogy #FamilyHistory

Wishing the world a happy midsummer solstice! Here's a wild rose from a green lane in Shropshire.

We have a snake in our town park and it's huge, and growing! It's a community project where we're all invited to paint a stone and place it at the end of the snake. It'll be interesting to see how long it becomes 🐍 It's part of Oswestry in Bloom - an annual event which our town usually wins!

Remembering my dad. From a working class background in a Shropshire town, he won a scholarship to Oxford aged 17. He stayed at school another year "to help", did his National Service then went up to St Edmund Hall from 1953 to 1956. The cleverest person I've ever known! ❤️ #FathersDay #FamilyHistory

Another thing that was said in my family by parents/grandparents is "Pardon me Mrs Pig". It turns out that this should actually be "Pardon me Mrs Arden there's a pig in your Garden". Who knew! 😁

I showed my age today - I said "Hang on the bell Nellie" at work! My colleague had never heard that before! Anyway, I googled where it comes from and yes, Nellie hung on a bell and thereby saved her her father's life! 😁

When I first started my family tree I was surprised to find that I had "branches" all over the country! #OTD in 1832 my 2x great-grandfather John Ambler was born in Lincoln. He lived in Everton but died of TB on 9 June 1861, aged 28, in Lower Bebington, Cheshire where his in-laws lived. #genealogy
