I gave my dadās piano away to a school. Heād had it since 1943. On the way home I cried and cried and wondered if a) heād be happy and b) should I put some of his ashes in a sandwich and eat it because I just so long to see him again. In the school I cried more and didnāt mention the sandwich.

My beautiful mum. I think this might have been her first teaching job but thereās no-one left to ask so I can only guess. I guess everything. I try not to make her up, to make her a story but I never knew her old and she never knew me as an adult. Sheila, who died on this day 35 years ago.
