Indeed, I think people are being super black or/and white about current tech. It also doesn't help that the loud voice for the tech (specially online) is from grifters, so a large number of end users don't want to accept if the tech might even be of the smallest help... Interesting times ahead.

I just joined after reading this article, and you can too :) ~£15/year minimum, and you can pay monthly (and more!). It's just a stripe checkout once you pass the initial membership page. They need ~£750/month so if 50 of us can pay £15/month then 50 of us can stop this loss. Nice!

I've noticed a pattern of free software fans manufacturing beef between competing projects, while the developers generally just disagree politely, get on with their own work, and seek to collaborate where they can. Gnome "vs" KDE. Fedora "vs" Debian Mastodon "vs" BlueSky. Are there other examples?

I just took a screenshot in Gnome on my personal laptop and it hurt how easy it is compared to my work macbook. Gnome is superior UX at this point, the only problem is adoption really. The worst part is that I run my own company so this is all my fault 😢

Honestly having a really strong understanding of your walk-away point & what you’re willing to accept or not (and sticking to it!) is so helpful. A lot of situations/people will push to see how little you’ll accept, but they can & will accommodate more. Happens in politics all the time but life too
