"Ludonarrative Dissonance" is when Mickey Mouse goes back to smiling after getting hurt. We can improve this with modern games, by having Mickey limp on the side he got hit. He can exclaim "ow, my [body part]!" after an explosion. And most importantly, we can watch his smile fade more with every hit
