for anyone who still believes in capitalism: you work hard, right? think of how hard you work every day. do you think the owner of a company, who might make anywhere from 10 to 500 times what you make yearly, works 10 to 500 times harder than you? do you think they work that much harder than anyone?

I feel like the culture we build online is actually made up of so much fewer people than we think

we should have two different GDP growth numbers: one for goods and services with a demand elasticity of more than 0.5 (elastic-ish) and those with a demand elasticity of less than 0.5 (inelastic-ish), with the elasticity calculated only from lower income individuals

there's no such thing as white culture bc there's no such thing as "<any race> culture". culture is always created and proliferated through proximity, so there is culture created in nations, cities, families, friend groups. but the idea that there's some culture shared by all ppl of a race is dumb

just saw your most recent vid. seems bad that american non-big-pharma research is getting severely defunded. given we have so many good scientists here, what if NIH became less funded by the US gov and instead part of an internat. grp funded by foreign govs + philanthropists?

by law, companies that let an employee go because they are replacing it with AI should have to pay the person a 6 month severance minimum

I feel like enjoying Taylor Swift's music is dependent on loving Taylor Swift as a person, bc of how intimately tied her music is to her specific experiences. you can't have death of the author and experience her music for what it means to you, you have to put it in context of *her* experience

if you (an individual) need to sue someone else (even a business or the govt) but can't afford it, and a judge determines that this case could set precedent that would benefit others if you won, you should have your court costs covered by the govt.

proposal: politicians get paid a base salary of the avg of their constituency. at the end of each term when the public is voting for the next candidate (or the same one) they can elect to give the previous office holder a bonus of up to 50% of their salary, sliding scale.

proposal: the top 10% earners at every company (C-suites included) get paid to a trust instead of directly. the most they can withdraw from the trust in one year is the average yearly pay of the workers at the company. the funds in the trust cannot be invested, and it can be sequestered for fines

there'd definitely be a lot fewer anti-vaxxers if you could get all vaccines intranasally and they weren't associated with being stabbed with a needle

also, there's not as much utility in charity because it doesn't encourage you to foster a community around you, like mutual aid does
add a skeleton here at some point

it occurs to me that mutual aid is only mutual aid and not charity if it's done between you and your community. if you reach outside of your community to give help, then you've entered into charity because there's no way to expect that person to have your back in the future if needed

I don't believe it's ethical to use AI trained on people's work (such as image generators). but what about things like LLMs? can we not say that people's speech on social media is assumed to be public and non-copyright? what if LLMs were only trained on online speech, not works of art like books?

shawls should be a fashion thing, and they should be as big as a small blanket, but thinner. so you have something that is stylish on you that you can use as a blanket but also as an outfit piece

we should have a drive thru tax. maybe even one that increases the more throughput a store has in their drive drive thru, which encourages shorter lines. it's crazy that you can just idle your car in the Chick-fil-a drive thru for like 15 minutes and no one bats an eye.
