I just got confirmation that my login credentials on NERSC supercomputers were revoked at some point and no longer work. With my Microsoft free Azure gravy train also ending late last year, I am officially without a supercomputer. First time in my career 😢

I don't know about the other parts, but it appears that the storage for this only scales up to 16 PB (see www.delltechnologies.com/asset/en-us/...). I'm surprised that's being positioned as scalable AI infrastructure. #storage

Great example of codesign for storage. 40x246 TB SSDs can only be reliable with storage software that does content-aware erasure codes and supports fail-in-place. You’d never run Lustre (or any other fs that assumes reliable block) using this. Time to recover from drive failure would be atrocious.

Training with NVFP4 will probably be hot at GTC next week. NVIDIA reports a 1.59x speedup over BF16 (developer.nvidia.com/blog/using-n...), but context: the speedup is on a tiny (8B), dense transformer with minimal high-latency comms in the loop. 1.59x will go way down for modern big, sparse models.
