I must lobby for A Dream Within A Dream! I had to force myself to stop watching every night so I could get a few hours sleep. There was ridiculousness, there was intrigue, there was pining, there were fabulous outfits, there were so many charming secondary characters... and there was Liu Yuning.

One of my all time favourites, the #cdrama To Ship Someone was such a blast to watch as a former fic writer and forever sailor of hopeless ships. Such a hilarious show!

I am unreasonably excited for this #cdrama. An isekai (double!) with Cheng Lei? I know my February plans now.

I have booked the weekend for a (possibly emotionally destabilizing) binge of the #TWdrama Had I Not Seen The Sun. Seems appropriate for the darkest days of the year.

I really want to watch the #twdrama Had I Not Seen The Sun but i have a heavy work week so heavy drama is not a good idea. Instead, I started the boxing #jdrama I Wanna Punch That Scumbag! and will put off the trauma-drama until the holidays. I feel so responsible (as I ignore the laundry).

I have been watching the best bits of Secret Life of my Secretary and being at 😍 at Jin Ki Joo and Kim Young Kwang. I adore them. As a result I have decided that it's finally time to watch the #kdrama Walking on Thin Ice for more KYK - complete vibe shift but I'm enjoying it.

I encourage voting for Filter because it was fun and surprisingly thoughtful for a show with a talking alpaca. Do it for the LLAMA drama! #cdramacup

#EYDC2025 - Day 6: A Drama You Dropped I abandoned several shows this year (and there's one that's been on pause for four months 🙃) but I firmly and unequivocally DROPPED Only For Love at ep 9 because wow was I not having fun.

#EYDC2025 Day 3 - Favourite New to Me Actor. I went through my watchlist and identified several contenders, but let's be honest, Liu Yu Ning has no competition in this category. I had never seen him before because I'm not a big costume #cdrama watcher but A Dream Within A Dream was a revelation.

#EYDC2025 Day 2 - Favourite New to Me Actress. Several stood out this year, but Koshiba Fuka is definitely a standout because of her wonderful performances in Kanojo wa Kirei Datta (which I finally watched) and Watashi no Otto to Kekkon Shite (Marry My Husband JP 2025).

Not including drops, rewatches, and the four I'm working through right now, I've watched more #cdrama (38) than #kdrama (35) or #jdrama (27). However, I watch a lot of 12-18 minutes per episode cdramas so I'm sure that in terms of hours, I spent a lot more time with kdrama characters. #EYDC2025

I binged through Would You Marry Me over the weekend and I have thoughts. First thought: it was fine. A simple romance #kdrama with no grasp of linear time (as if that all happened in three months 🤣🤣) and tropes layered on top of tropes. Hardly groundbreaking but I smiled a lot. 1/3

Need to take a break from #ShadowLove because my brain is all jangled and that doesn't work with the story pacing. I think this is why I struggle with #cdramas - I get scatterbrained and need fast paced media for a bit, but then I've lost momentum and have a hard time getting back into shows. Sigh.

After a week of #cdrama palace intrigue, I'm moving on to #ShadowLove starring Cheng Lei's magical disappearing-reappearing shirt. Very fun so far!

I'm finally getting around to watching The Princess Royal and I'm constantly surprised at how much I'm enjoying it given my history of hating palace intrigue #cdramas.

On a mini #cdrama tear this long weekend and just hit gold with the incredibly soapy Sinful Marriage. It had every plot and trope under the sun but also fun performances and a surprisingly endearing hate to love story. I may have swooned just a little.

I'm over on threads promoting the joys of jdramas to my kdrama-watching mutuals, even though I'm spending the weekend binge-watching cdramas. Chaotic!

Yay, I won't need to sail the high seas for kdrama body-swap tomfoolery! I wonder if I should ask my therapist why I love this trope so much... it gets me (almost) every time.

The jdrama Cinderella Closet was a cute, sweet little shojo adaptation, as promised. It offered a very gentle and optimistic, but occasionally insightful, exploration of a genderfluid person's experience, which made my non-binary heart melt. In summary: sparkly butterfly vibes for everyone!

Ah, Learning to Love was a beautiful journey! Some story arcs were frustrating but the core was strong and so good. Marvelous performances from the leads. The hardest part for me was having to stop watching during episode 8 to make dinner. Couldn't have timed that worse!

Just finished the Genie kdrama, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I assume most people will hate it because it is unashamedly bizarre and unserious. This one belongs on the "only for the weirdos" list with many of my favourites. The dog storyline was amazing, it's so ridiculous. Bravo to all involved.

The time loop cdrama #Mobius was just kind of okay. I think it could have been a lot tighter in the second half, like shorter by a couple episodes. Also, the background music was truly unfortunate. It pulled me right out of the scene way too often by being over the top or ill-fitting.

The stills from the kdrama Shin's Project crack me up. Every single picture of Bae Hyeon Seong has him looking so confuzzled by whatever is happening around him. It's like the set photographer is trying to win a dare. I mean, it's a good look. He can stay confused forever as far as I'm concerned.

Whelp, #AliceinBorderland Season 3 was pretty much a protracted case for finding healthier (or any) ways to process traumatic events. Production-wise, a well made show with (mostly) decent acting, but the decisions made... I was deeply irritated with every character multiple times. Sigh.

Day 25: Wrapping up the #dramajobchallenge with one of the best scheming Dowager Empresses, Dae Bi (Nam Gi Ae) from First Night with the Duke. She was the epitome of the politics-playing, leads-thwarting, interfering Empress roles that I love to hate in historical kdramas and cdramas!

Day 24: Emperor Most dramas I watch have emperors and kings as the baddies, but in the cute minidrama Emperor or Boss, Yang Ze absolutely charms as time-travelling emperor Lin Ming Shi. He takes to modern life with a wonder and joy that made me smile the whole time. #dramajobchallenge

Day 23: Idol The first drama I saw Zhang Ling He in was the uneven Love Crossed. He brought so much depth and heart to the role of virtual idol Xu Nian that I watched only his scenes until his story and the thriller plot eclipsed the mains and the drama became quite good. #dramajobchallenge

Starting #Mobius #cdrama tonight and I had a good giggle at Ding Qi confronting the bus creep. Nice throwback to Bai Jing Ting's other (excellent) time loop show, Reset.

Day 22: Software Developer I adore Zhao Jiang Yu (Gina Jin) from Why Women Love. She's a kickass app development team lead. She takes no bull and stands by her friends and colleagues. And she navigated this jie jie romance charmingly without awkwardness or foolishness. #dramajobchallenge

Day 21: Office Worker In office dramas the characters often have specific jobs (marketing, finance etc) so it was a fun change to see general office intern Satio Ai (Koshiba Fuka) do a bit of everything in the jdrama Kanojo wa Kirie Datta. She was a delight throughout the show! #dramajobchallenge

There's something so amusing to me when an art practice I work in is featured in a show I'm watching and it's all dramatic and cool, but also wildly implausible or inaccurate. This revelation brought to you by the #kdrama Beyond the Bar's episode about paintings.

Day 20: Cabin Crew My first and favourite flight attendant is Shin Na Eun (Go Won Hee) from Love to Hate You. She was the best bestie a lead could have. Standing up for Mi Ran, standing by her, and generally being great. #dramajobchallenge

I haven't decided whether or not to watch this kdrama, but all the promo photos make me laugh-cringe at the choices we were making fashion-wise back then. That faux-alligator blazer? Kill it with fire!!!

Day 19: Shop Owner Bicycle repair shop owner Takahashi Ryohei (Suzuki Nobuyuki) from the #jdrama Jitenshaya-san no Takahashi-kun was so wonderful. A rough around the edges mechanic with the most generous, genuine heart. A great quiet performance.

I am watching the #cdrama Regeneration because I wanted something thriller-y and if no one has done something to nasty to Fei Ke, I'm going to because what a scumbag!

Day 18: Pharmacist One memorable pharmacist for me is Kong Ma Ja (Nam Gi Ae), the mother of the lead character in Flower of Evil. She was not a nice person on so many levels, and the actor did an excellent job portraying all those layers. #dramajobchallenge

Day 17: Mobster Low level (and not good at it) mobster Seol Kang Woo (Koo Kyo Hwan) was stellar in Parasite: The Grey. He stumbled into a nightmare and became a reluctant side-kick and protector. I found his relationships with Heidi and Soo In quite endearing. #dramajobchallenge

A Calm Sea and Beautiful Days with You was as lovely and gentle as I'd hoped. I had several quiet cries and many heart flutters, which was perfect. Nothing beats an arranged marriage or contract cohabitation #jdrama for pining and do-they-actually-like-me tension. Bliss. These silly beans 🥰

Day 16: Military General As I said before, I don't watch military shows, but there is one General I think is great: Choi Geum (Jung Join Ho) in the #kdrama From Now On, Showtime! He's a wonderfully conflicted character, while also being very funny. #dramajobchallenge

Day 15: Film Director I May Love You was a cdrama that surprised me. I expected cringe but ended up enjoying it. The director of the drama within the drama, Lu Zhi Xing (Yang Shi Ze) was a big part of that. Lovely character who was a great balance to the silliness around him. #dramajobchallenge

Day 13: Soldier I've never watched a military drama so I struggled until I remembered the stunning performance of Lee Do Hyun as the soldier Go Chung Myung in Hotel del Luna. Honourable mention to the also heartbreaking Mu Yeon (Kim Jae Young) from 100 Days My Prince. #dramajobchallenge

Day 12: Police Officer Gotta be Yun Sae Bom (Han Hyo Joo) from the "zombies aren't the only monsters" kdrama Happiness. She was a good person in a bad situation who kept trying to make the world a little better even though the people in it were making her angry and sad. #dramajobchallenge
