#ChinguChallenge prompt 17 (I finally caught up!) I do enjoy a gritty mystery story, but I think the quirky mystery #jdrama Usotoki Rhetoric features my favourite crime-solving duo. They're just so odd and their little found family is so lovely. I would watch many more seasons of this show!

Today's drama update with the husband: Me: her stepmother is trying to poison her. Him: didn't she just frame her so she was buried alive? Me: no, that was her mother in law. Him: what? that's a lot. Yep. That's #cdrama for you.

#ChinguChallenge prompt 16 There's actually so many! But I was really creeped out by the killer in the #kdrama Link: Eat, Love, Kill while also charmed to bits by all the other characters. It's one of the better comedy-murder-romance shows, because the murdering doesn't feel randomly grafted on.

#ChinguChallenge prompt 15: Time Travel I love an isekai and I'll always cheer for the lead(s) navigating a "reborn for a second try" drama, but when it comes to time travel my absolute favourite is the excellent time loop #cdrama Reset.

#ChinguChallenge prompt 14: Trope My favourite trope is the body (or soul) swap. It's to the point that I get VERY picky about the details of this implausible circumstance (eg quoted rant below). A #cdrama I loved that really nailed this trope was The Day of Becoming You. Great fun!

#ChinguChallenge prompt 13 Found Families are so lovely in real life and dramas (I also love the less deep connection of Yay!Team feels). The frontrunner for me is the forced by circumstances family of the #kdrama Unlock My Boss. They found each other and saved each other. Oh my heart!

#ChinguChallenge prompt 12: Comedy I have an atypical sense of humour, so I struggle with "comedic" shows sometimes. A comedy that I loved was the #kdrama Flex X Cop, a ridiculous premise in the hands of actors with surprisingly good comic timing. Ahn Bo Hyun really found his goofy groove here.

#ChinguChallenge prompt 11 The Childhood Connection trope can be so bad when it's a lazy substitute for actual relationship building, basically saying "of course they should be in love." But I loved the way it was played in the #kdrama My Dearest Nemesis, as layer to their enemies to lovers vibe.

Happy for this post because I'm looking forward to the drama, but also because Netflix seems to have removed the "coming soon" list on my phone's app so I now have no idea what's starting when. Is it still on the website at least?

#ChinguChallenge prompt 10: zombies I am very squeamish and easily startled, so I don't watch many horror shows. However, I gave the zombie #kdrama Happiness a try and loved it, in part because the real monsters weren't the zombies.

#ChinguChallenge prompt 9 The costume and production design of the Had I Not Seen The Sun was so beautiful and so detailed. The lighting and colouring. The moths. 1027. The way the costume designer chose the English text on the characters' clothes to respond to the action and dialogue. Brilliant.

Oooh, new revenge #cdrama with Han Dong Lin! He does trashy action-thriller minis so well.

#ChinguChallenge prompt 8 I love Enemies to Lovers, even though they are often quite angsty. The funny ones are my true favourites, with the zany Love to Hate You at the top of the list. It was my first #kdrama and while I was confused by a lot of it at the time, it hooked me.

#ChinguChallenge prompt 7: Revenge There's really no debate here, it's the #jdrama Marry My Husband. Until I watched it, my favourite was the remarkably similar but unrelated #kdrama Perfect Marriage Revenge, which I binged in a day (on 7th my wedding anniversary, hilariously).

#ChinguChallenge prompt 6: Family I watch many dramas with wonderful families-by-choice but don't see many good bio-families in my corners of dramaland. However, I recently watched the #kdrama 18 Again which has a lovely multigenerational family at its core. They were all flawed but full of love.

Clearly the answer is The Devil Judge but a brief scan of the OP's profile suggests they might be confused by how surviving a dystopian hellscape by burning the world down for each other is "a beautiful ending love story." But that's their loss. #kdrama

#ChinguChallenge prompt 5: Villian I have loved to hate many a baddie, but my favourite of favourites is the epically over the top Hwang Pil Gwang from the #kdrama Uncanny Counter 2. UC2 was kind of a mess, but Kang Ki Young playing against type and leaving no scenery unchewed was really fun!

Well, #FatedHearts was a rollercoaster and I really enjoyed the ride! Nothing like a military-political-romance #cdrama to heap up the body count but also make me a bit swoony. Overall great, but I will cherish it for psycho sweeties Xiyang and Jingyan's mutually destructive bond in the final 1/3.

I recently got a hearing aid for my damaged ear that can properly correct my 75dB hearing loss in the human voice range. Problem is, my brain doesn't remember how to deal with sibilant sounds like 'sh' 'th' 'ch' and 'sss' Fortunately, Mandarin is super sibilant so #cdramas are brain training!

#ChinguChallenge prompt two: historical drama. In searching for this, I realized that I don't watch many historical dramas that aren't also somehow fantasy/sci-fi. But there were a few! Top of the list is the lovely, soft #jdrama A Calm Seas and Beautiful Days with You.

Well, I just finished the #cdrama mini Grab Your Love and I'm awestruck - show was damn near perfect! It was smarter, funnier, hotter, and sweeter than most of the dramas I've watched in 2026, and all in only 6.5 hours.

My goodness he's evolved a lot in the five years since his first dramas, the surprisingly fun web series Romanced and the heartbreaking Drama Special Nineteen Otters. He was all awkward gangly limbs and nose back then. Now they all fit together.

I decided that tonight was the night to start #Affinity cdrama, and wow was I right. This is peak trashy: the leads are red-flagging and damseling like it's an olympic pairs sport, the budget could only dream of a shoestring, and there was a telepathic pig-octupus-mutant. I'm in heaven!

I need thriller and mystery shows to come with a warning of whether the writers are as smart as they say their characters are, because when they clearly are not the show suffers. This realization brought to you by the #kdrama Inspector Koo, where the "smart" characters were so, well, not. Bleh.

I won't pretend #BoyfriendOnDemand broke any new ground but it did a nice job of balancing giggle-inducing nonsense, varying levels of self-awareness and growth, and sweet romances. The cameos were on point throughout. I nearly fell off the couch laughing at the scenario with Lee Sang Yi.

I finished #LoveInTheClouds and I'm really starting to believe that if a #cdrama involves Immortals or cultivation, it is not for me. I'm 0/3 this winter, even though I picked well-regarded shows. Going to go back to my comfort zone of military ladies, transmigration follies, moderns, and minis.

This looks like the #cdrama version of the Colin Firth Mr Darcy and the pond scene. If I ever watched this drama (unlikely, as I'm not a wuxia watcher) I'd surely get the giggles seeing this happen.

Doing my end of year drama-watching stats has reminded me that the plan to watch list never shrinks. In recognition of this, I am determined to only watch pre-2025 dramas this month. I WILL clear some backlog while all the #kdramas and #cdramas I've been anticipating finish airing.

I know it's going to render my feeds nearly empty but I'm putting the #cdrama #Glory on my blocklist until it finishes airing. I don't have the patience for an episode a day, and the excitement in everyone's posts is giving me anticipation anxiety.

I'm halfway through #MoonRiver and while it's enjoyable, they're committing what I consider to be a major soul-swap faux pas. In the "see their original faces" scenes, the characters change outfits. It's WRONG. She should still be dressed as the prince. He should be in a eunuch outfit. I hate this.

I encourage voting for Shadow Love because hugs. There's also plotty plot and enjoyable characters and humour and tears and Cheng Lei's magical disappearing shirt, but most importantly there are so many wonderful hugs to warm the heart! #cdramacup2025
