For all the lives lost on 9/11...and in the days, months, and years after from its aftermath. I remember watching all night, hoping they’d find more survivors. Tonight, I’ll hold space for every name, every story, every family forever changed.

We like to say America was “united” after 9/11. Truth? We were united...unless you looked Muslim...or Arab, or Sikh, or brown. Stores smashed. People beaten. Families terrorized. Unity didn’t include everyone. Romanticizing history means that toxic rhetoric goes unchecked.

10:28 AM. The North Tower collapses...both towers gone. I went home and turned on the TV, watching the live feed and the endless replays. I cried as CNN flashed its new “America At War” banner. The skyline was changed, and so were we.

10:03 AM. Flight 93 crashes in Pennsylvania. News reports swirled about missing planes...rumors that every state capital was next, or GM would be hit. On break, we stood outside, staring at the sky. How could the world shift so completely in the blink of an eye?

9:59 AM. The South Tower collapses. We heard it over the radio...gasps, tears, the weight of disbelief. Unlike many, I didn’t see it live on TV. I only listened, and somehow that made it more haunting. A building, and thousands of lives, gone in a moment.

9:37 AM. Flight 77 strikes the Pentagon. Even the center of U.S. defense wasn’t safe. I told my manager, who turned on the radio. We just stood there...staring, listening. Customers’ faces said it all. It was a collective trauma unfolding in real time.

9:03 AM. A second plane slams into the South Tower. Shock turned to certainty...this wasn’t an accident. I was walking past the men’s department when a woman stopped me. I called home and learned: a second hit, and the word “terrorism” was everywhere.

8:46 AM. A plane slams into the North Tower, and suddenly the ordinary morning becomes history. Most of us remember exactly where we were. I was in my early 20s, working through school. At my big box job, no one even knew yet.

Charlie Kirk was assassinated today. I will never cheer political violence. A gun is not debate. A bullet is not justice. Political violence is never the answer. No one should be gunned down for their views, no matter how abhorrent they are. #EndPoliticalViolence

2008: I worked tirelessly to get people I served registered to vote. Their voices mattered, even if society ignored them. If I could help them be heard, no matter who they chose, it was worth every effort. #BehindTheDesk #VotingMatters
