Sometimes having 4 adults living in my in addition to me and my husband drives me crazy. Sometimes I don’t mind it. I’m kind of glad that Vietnamese is their first language and, for two of them, their only language. It means I don’t have to talk too much and can remain introverted.

I’m tired of returning books to the university library on time but then getting an email a week later demanding I return books immediately. This is happening at 2 locations and with both ILL & university books. Someone needs to do their job & check books back in & record when ILL books are returned.

Finished reading Christopher Bennett’s Star Trek Titan Over the Torrent Sea. It depicts Droplet (a water world) & its native species in a way only a novel can. Like many Titan authors, Bennett isn’t afraid of letting the Titan crew fuck things up, even though the crew had the best intentions. 9.5/10

Finished reading the 1st licensed Star Trek novel & 1st Trek YA novel: Mack Reynolds’s Mission to Horatius. It’s so bad it’s good. The Enterprise facing an outbreak of cafard (basically boredom and a desire to be on a planet that drives people insane) gets a distress signal from the Horatius system.

Families are weird. My mom told me my aunt (my late father’s sister) died & expects me to be emotional. But I never knew her because of an argument my parents had with my dad’s two sisters over a popcorn maker on layaway at Kmart in the mid-80s when I was 3 or 4 & about where to spend Christmas.

It’s funny how local news stations where I live always think it’s news worthy to report the opening of yet another fast food restaurant. This week it’s Slim Chickens. A couple weeks ago it was Freddy’s. We already have about 42 fast restaurants for a city of about 71,000.

Every time I go to the grocery store recently, I want to buy the Pumpkin Mellowcremes, but I immediately get a headache & remember I don’t want to eat pure sugar. I have gotten use to Vietnamese desserts, which are a lot less intensely sweet. No one else at home would even the pumpkin candies.
