On the 1️⃣7️⃣th day of December our ‘Woodlands Advent Calendar’ brought an invitation to bake. Baking banana muffins was very popular with the children. 💕🧁

On the 1️⃣6️⃣th day of December our ‘Woodlands Advent Calendar’ brought an invitation to ‘Play Christmas Party Games’ ~ Musical Bumps, 🎶Christmas Corners, 🦌Musical Statues 🎶& Pass the Parcel 💝 Many children (& educators) joined in. Lots of fun .. “I like dancing” “I have that song at my house” 🎶

🔎 Resource Spotlight: Time for Childhood: Slow Pedagogy 🌿 During a season known for hecticness, we’re shining a light on our Slow Pedagogy pamphlet, a Froebelian practice that nurtures a child’s time for play, learning and relationships.

A lovely occasion & such a joy to see the children singing their Christmas Songs at the Family Christmas Singalong today. 🎶 Thank you to Andrew for his fabulous pianist playing & to the many families that managed to join in. 💕⭐️🎶

On the 1️⃣5️⃣th day of December our ‘Woodlands Advent Calendar’ brought an invitation to ‘Go on a Christmas Tree Hunt’. 🎄👼 Our nursery & local Community were perfect places to find some. We’ve also been playing our ‘Here we go round the Christmas Tree’ singing game. 🌲⭐️

The staff team at Woodlands have been enjoying our ‘Kindness Advent Calendar’ & some wee treats in our 12 days of December. ⭐️ Each morning it sets us up for the day .. along with singing and dancing 🎶to some Christmas music #Wellbeing 💕🎄 #Kindness #TheGiftofGiving

On the 1️⃣2️⃣th day of December our ‘Woodlands Advent Calendar’ brought an invitation to ‘Make a Gift’. 💝 We had such an amazing amount of creativity taking place. ⭐️

We had our lovely Woodlands Christmas lunch today. Thank you to Kelly and Jennifer for making us such a wonderful meal. “I like broccoli”. “More gravy please, mmmmm” 🎄💕

On the 11th day of December our ‘Woodlands Advent Calendar’ brought an invitation to make a 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣6️⃣ Calendar. Various designs and media used creating portraits & photo prints. Also abstract creations. The numbers sparked interest “Look that’s a 2,0,2 & 6”, “that’s my number” (pointing to the 4). 💕🎄

On the 10th day of December our ‘Woodlands Advent Calendar’ brought an invitation to create a Christmas decoration. ⭐️ Salt dough Christmas tree decorations continued to be popular following the family festive evening along with various designs being created. 🎄

On the 9th day of December our ‘Woodlands Advent Calendar’ brought an invitation to ‘do something kind.’ 💕 We discussed how Christmas can be a time to give to others along with receiving presents. The children are creating a food hamper to donate, along with making cards & presents to gift. 🎄🎁

Thank you to all the families for making this a lovely ‘Festive Evening’ it was great to see the children being so creative whilst having fun together & sharing their nursery with their family. 💕🎄

On the 5th day of December our ‘Woodlands Advent Calendar’ brought Christmas Singing Games. We had lots of opportunity to coordinate & move our bodies & share space whilst following the structure of the game. “I like the Hokey Cokey” “I’ve got a Christmas tree in my house” & lots of smiles. 🎶💗

On the 4th day of December our ‘Woodlands Advent Calendar’ brought Christmas Songs to help spread joy throughout this festive season. The core Christmas Songs have singing spoon visual signifiers that helps offer children choice & predictably. Some children share “I know ‘Away in a manger” ⭐

The children’s offsite interest in gathering natural treasures this week were used to create their collective handmade door wreath. Children shared “can you smell the pine?”, “it’s jaggy” and now it’s hanging beautifully on their nursery door to share their creation for all to see. 💕🍃

We look forward to your Festive themed Family ‘Feel Good Friday (5th) Walk’. Hope many families can take time to pause & enjoy walking & talking together with your child in nature … along with a visit to Calendar House to see the beautiful Christmas tree 💕🍃🎄 *Santa hats welcome but not essential

On the 3rd day of December our ‘Woodlands Advent Calendar’ brought a Christmas cactus & Poinsettia for the children to care for & add lovely seasonal plants to their nursery. Some children shared “they have soil”, “we need to water them”, “I like the colours”. 🪴🌺

On the 2nd day of December our ‘Woodlands Advent Calendar’ brought Christmas trees. Throughout the day this brought many opportunities for conversations & listening to the children’s ideas, along with children making decorations & adding lights. 🎄

On the 1st day of December we started our ‘Woodlands Advent Calendar’. Today brought ‘The First Christmas’ Story where we read the book, which raised much interest & questions along with exploring the illustrations & characters in the story. 💗📗👼🌟🐏

Our children have been deepening and strengthening their gross motor skills from using the ropes to the slack line to walk from various heights and angles “I am walking backwards and forwards”. Being offsite allows a greater range of space and freedom with guidance that support our children ✨

Wonderful afternoon sharing our sewing & weaving opportunities with a group of families, great conversations around the skills our children are learning as well as finding out the grow ups own creative abilities 🪡🧶

We launched our first Feel Good Friday walk with some parents and children. Promoting positive relationships and wellbeing. Join us on the first Friday of the month for more Feel Good Walks 💕
