Spent all of Saturday watching 3 Scottish matches at packed venues on 📺 from afar at a time when I see regular social media attacks on the standard of 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⚽️from outside Scotland. No one would pretend our fitba is perfect but it’s part of us. Great memories as a commentator.

Frustrating 1:1 draw at Pittodrie for Aberdeen. Had much more of the possession across the whole game but bedeviled by a lack of guile in the attacking third. Dundee United came with a plan & a point apiece pretty fair. 2 tricky away games (Hibs & Falkirk) coming up next for the Dons.

Actually a big fan of the Winterpause in Germany - we all need a break from time to time & it’s beneficial from a footballing aspect - but as a Scot, enjoying today’s Sco Premiership fixtures so far. Large & loud crowds, goals aplenty, fans back “home” for festive season get to see their teams.

As a Scot oft afar from my country of birth, the Scottish ⚽️ TV contract can be frustrating. Hearts-Rangers & Celtic-Aberfeen today yet the contract limitations mean only the former can be shown. And that extends to 🌎 TV coverage on normal rights holder channels. Big missed projection opportunity.

We have BVB-Gladbach live on Fri (ESPN+) & interesting to see if Gio Reyna gets to start vs. his ex club. Reyna, as with the whole BMG team, struggled in the 1:3 vs. Wolfsburg in only his 3rd league start of the season. Reyna has the added problem of in squad competition with Florian Neuhaus back.

For American followers who like to keep track of US players in the Bundesliga, hearing there’s a good chance Dortmund will send Cole Campbell elsewhere in January. Hasn’t been measuring up to expectations in training & at 19, soon to be 20, a parting of the ways is likely.
