Spurs.
Gallagher will come in and straight away be our best midfielder. Heās also a better passer than I think many are giving credit for. Still not exactly what the squad needs but I donāt hate it. Also a former favourite of a certain magic Argentinian.

With this season basically a write off already Iād use this window to sign players from Europe who are good but need an adjustment period to the physicality of the league.

I know itās basic but between Son, Brennan, Deki, Madders and Solanke weāve lost a lot of goals from last season and the players weāve signed to replace them are hardly notable bagsmen.

Spurs have the worst PL home record of any ever present side in the premier league since Nov 2024 (Sky Sports) Spurs have only 17 home points in 13 months Not only is this the worst record of any ever present side itās actually worse than newly promoted Sunderland who have 18 points in 8 games

Weird game. Think you can squint and see positives but also a lot of negatives. Hard to really tell what was on Frank.

Not to relitigate last season in terms of results but I do wonder how well the players respond to changing from a manager with almost baffling self belief, a very specific attacking ideology and who clearly held Tottenham as a club in high self esteem to the complete switch to pragmatism.

The only thing I can see Frank is trying to get them to do is to try the bait the press artificial transition but then a) arenāt coached into the automations deep so itās too risky b) donāt actually create those transitions once we have baited the press and c) donāt have a plan when we concede

Thereās been basically nothing positive about our performances in the league recently so even though yesterday was definitely not good overall at least there was some decent performances in there and a bit of fight. Does feel like a massive game in setting the tone going forward against Brentford.

Not saying Xavi is a better player than Eze but I do think if youād swapped the transfers then Eze at Spurs this season would have been a frustrated figure on the periphery of games attempting almost impossible passes and overly ambitious shots and Xavi would have been quite good at Arsenal.

I do think Frankās out of his depth and the points on the board have masked how badly weāve played for most of this season but I also donāt see what we do with this squad. Itās not just that itās not good enough itās that weāve loaded up in midfield and attack in players who are just too similar.

Pessimistic prediction. For all the talk of this being a slog decided by set pieces I think Arsenal are a bit underrated from open play and Spurs are massively overrated in terms of the defensive improvement in open play. Think this will be a re-run of Chelsea/Bournemouth and 3-0 loss.

I still do think basically all our problems begin with having zero midfielders at 6 or 8 who excel at passing the ball.

Spurs midfield is bad because it has no passers in it. For me the bigger question is how do we change that. Because we just gave Bentancur a new deal, most people seem to love Palhinha and surely Sarr, Gray and Bergvall arenāt going anywhere.

Quite like the odd couple Paratici and Lange joint sporting directors. Lange can data and scouting check that Paraticiās mates rate agent deals are solid. Paratici can cover for the fact that Lange has social anxiety and cries every time his phone goes off.

Donāt have a problem with Tel being the one left out from the available squad. Do have a problem with a process that saw us purchase Tel for 30m this summer, then sign a more developed version of Tel in RKM on loan for a season and prioritise that over Telās development.

Weird window. I think Xavi and Kudus both in skill set and position were what we needed. Palhinha will be useful in some games but not others. Signing both Tel and Kolo Muani is a fairly large overlap in skill set and position and still leaves us without a quality, dedicated option at left wing.

Might be wrong but donāt actually expect Spurs to sign anybody else tomorrow. Still imagine weāll be chucked into the aggregator mix for every winger and centre back who might be on the move mind you.

Bournemouth were very good to be fair to them but for all the last week heralding of Frank as this tactically adaptive genius he got that wrong from the start and the adjustments were too late and only slightly improved us.

Really pleased with the Xavi Simons signing. Giving us real first XI quality in that position and potential for him to grow even further. The process that lead to him being the signing was highly questionable but the outcome is pretty good.

Itās obviously a bad look that the club invested a lot of time in Eze (and MGW) only to miss out in embarrassing ways but Iām just not as bothered as most are. Partly because Iām not as invested in transfers as some are but also Iām not convinced that Eze was the right profile with Madders out.

Our school introduced an in school phone ban last year and ngl I was sceptical. Can say I was categorically wrong. Less fall outs, fewer parents calling in because their kid has unnecessarily text them and best of all - more of them actually talk and play cards at lunch!

A quirk of our squad being built first for Conte who is a back 5, counter attacking dogmatist and then for Ange a 4-3-3 possession dogmatist means that weāve got lots of players who work in both systems. That plays into Frank who is a genuine pragmatist who will switch systems hands.

Loads of positives from last night - thought we looked very well coached. For the first 70 mins we managed to move through the phases and not allow PSG to pepper us with meaningful shots. Press was really effective and coordinated. Not flashy but sensible.

Walking to the train for my commute: I need to leave 22 minutes before the train leaves. Can do it in 19 minutes at a push. Walking to the exact same train station if Iām going to do something: I must leave half an hour before the train or Iām convinced Iāll miss it.
