Don’t have a problem with Tel being the one left out from the available squad. Do have a problem with a process that saw us purchase Tel for 30m this summer, then sign a more developed version of Tel in RKM on loan for a season and prioritise that over Tel’s development.

Weird window. I think Xavi and Kudus both in skill set and position were what we needed. Palhinha will be useful in some games but not others. Signing both Tel and Kolo Muani is a fairly large overlap in skill set and position and still leaves us without a quality, dedicated option at left wing.

Might be wrong but don’t actually expect Spurs to sign anybody else tomorrow. Still imagine we’ll be chucked into the aggregator mix for every winger and centre back who might be on the move mind you.

Bournemouth were very good to be fair to them but for all the last week heralding of Frank as this tactically adaptive genius he got that wrong from the start and the adjustments were too late and only slightly improved us.

A quirk of our squad being built first for Conte who is a back 5, counter attacking dogmatist and then for Ange a 4-3-3 possession dogmatist means that we’ve got lots of players who work in both systems. That plays into Frank who is a genuine pragmatist who will switch systems hands.

Son was one of the better players in the world for most his time at Spurs and never a peep of him going to another club. Signing a new contract under Nuno. And ultimately being the guy who gets to captain us to the moment where the monkey got off our back. A true Spurs legend.

Frank’s most heralded strength is his adaptability. To be able to adapt within and between matches you need a variety of profiles. Maybe that’s what we’re going for this summer. Kudus and BJ are entirely different. Palhinha offers a different tactical solution.

I think Palhinha is a useful profile to have in a squad. I just think it’s way down our list of priorities when we have limited squad space. Are we going to ditch Biss and Bentancur to bring in Tacklhinha and a passer? Then great. If it’s just him then dreadful.

Weird thing about signing a player from a rival club is that when I’m watching the obligatory goals compilation every time he shapes to shoot I hope he misses.

I’m still kind of confused by what our squad building plan is this summer but if we wanted a winger then Kudus is a pretty good one and it’s done relatively early allowing us to hopefully look at improving in central midfield.
